Two listens from a casual fan.
Good Great vocals Nice to hear guitar work so prominent in a song
So-So Lyrics The song
I'm just not feeling it as much as most are here. It is obviously a smash with her fans. Carrie is a superstar so I expect it to fly to #1 on country and probably do fairly well on AC and HotAC if released to those formats. I'm not sure about Pop. I guess that would depend on how much of a smash it is on the other formats.
Overall: Solid B which is lot better than most songs today.
A great video like Before He Cheats had could help this song outside the country format.
Thanks for posting the clip above.

Haven't posted my review yet. I LOVE IT! I was in love at first listen and even more with each repeat. It had me at the first 3 beats. I love how the guitars were added, then the clapping, then the vocals. (I also enjoyed that with "Rolling in the Deep," the gradual adding of sounds.) I love the unique structure --how the verses have 2 melodies and the chorus also has 2 melodies. It's almost like different songs, but when put together flow smoothly. I love the fierceness and energy of her vocals. I love that the lyrics are strong, which isn't always the case with uptempos. I love that the tempo is really fast. I actually love the songwriting, how the lyrics/syllables just fit together. Bottom line, GG definitely my favorite uptempo song and lead single from Carrie. Color me happy! ETA: Btw, GG is now #24 over-all ;)

Wow - it really is flying up the charts :o It is my favorite uptempo too. She really killed it at the bridge with those big vocals. It's not very country, but it doesn't really matter for me; it's an amazing song anyway. Positive thing is that it's very catchy. And I truly believe this is one of her best written songs.

#14 now! Sailing right on up! Edit: I saw it at 14, but now I'm seeing it at 16... Either my eyes are playing games, or, well. I don't know...

It exceeded my expectations by a lot. I love the lyrics and I love her vocals and it is so darn catchy. This is positively my favorite uptempo from her from her last two albums and a few more listens may bring it up to the top spot for me altogether.

Carrie blogged.
She's very excited about finally releasing Good Girl and she's glad of the response the song has been getting based on the posts and reviews she's been reading. She feels as if a weight had been lifted off her shoulders after the whole lockdown.
She also speaks about the album briefly, saying to just wait till the album drops and she doesn't have a short supply of singles.

that part in the blog about a lot of singles I love, I just hope they don't leave us hanging after 4 like with PO.
She also said it had lots of singles.;)

Where did "So Small" and "Cowboy Casanova" peak on iTunes opening week? I think I remember both being Top 5 but I'm not sure.

GG is climbing much faster than CC or SS.
On August 28, 2007, the first day of "So Small"'s digital release, it ended the day at #13 over-all and #1 on country. On September 22, 2009, on its first day, "Cowboy Casanova" ended #6 over-all and #1 country.
GG reached #1 country in 6 hours and is already #7 over-all after 12 hours. CC took at least 16 hours just to reach #1 country!

The timing is pretty good with this to hit #1. Katy is dropping, Fun.'s album came out a few days ago so the push for their single isn't quite as strong, Kelly's song is consistent but their are two versions that keep its primary position down a bit. She could really do it. I'm really impressed with its iTunes performance.
