If SYA isn't a single, I will never pay for anything Carrie related again. It's the only song of hers I own that I purchased. Well I'm sure Carrie will miss her share from the $1.29 you will spend on supporting her career in the next 7 years. How will she pay for her leg gloss???

My mother listens to country music but is not a Carrie fanatic. She knows her catalog b/c of me and one of her favorite songs period is I Told You So. When she heard Blown Away (the song) she said it was the best song Carrie had ever recorded including I Told You So. She doesn't follow charts or anything like that but she said if BA doesn't spend multiple weeks at number 1 she doesn't know what song could. This was music to my ears b/c my mother isn't emotionally invested in Carrie's career like I am and so can be more objective.
Yay to the mom stories btw! lol

No one else believes See You Again would do well as a single? I love love love See You Again. In fact, my grandmother died a couple of days after Blown Away was released, so the song really hit home for me and helped me feel at ease. I'm very connected to the song, however it just isn't a country song. If perhaps they wanted to release it to Hot AC only, (because we know they won't do a CHR release) with some promo it could be a hit. Otherwise I think it'll just be a very solid album track.

I really love See You Again as well, but since we have limited number of slots for singles, plus with the hardly-country GG and cross-over-potential BA being chosen as singles already... SYA will most likely be sacrificed in order to release some softer ballads and/or countrier songs.

I am surprised people are passing up See You Again. It seems like one of the best choices to me.

The Walmart performances were great. Two Black Cadillacs & Blown Away keep getting better and better live.

Single choices are going to very interesting and widely debated it seems. From the promo interviews I heard/saw, the interviewers all seemed to have different favorites. So many posters on different sites seem to have different favorites. I personally really enjoy every song but even my favorites seem to swing back and forth between DYTAM, WAW, and GIG. Even the songs I don't see as singles, WAY, TGFHT, or SYA, I sometimes get very drawn into. It's going to be hard choices, not everyone is going to be pleased and a few real gems are going to be left unreleased. Going to be interesting to watch the whole thing unfold. The strategies, the debates, the conspiracy theories ;).............................

I'm watching the "Today Show" and Kathie Lee and Hoda just played a huge chunk of Carrie's "One Way Ticket" and danced/sang along. I don't think there was a point to playing... Hoda was talking about imagining you're on the road, by a beach, blasting this song.
Edit: It was part of Hoda's playlist.
This must mean today will be a good day!

I really hope both Two Black Cadillacs and See You Again are released as singles; they're both too good to pass up. On another note, my mom also loves the album. The first four tracks (especially Two Black Cadillacs) are her favourites.

Count me in as one who loves See You Again, but then again, I'm a spiritual person. It has a special place for me, but there are those who really don't connect with a song like this. Sadly, too many don't connect with a song like this. If I were deciding what song to release to country radio, sadly, this would not be one of them. To Christian radio, it wouldn't even be close, this song would fit that market perfectly. Two Black Cadillacs, however, is a masterpiece imo. If they don't release this one, something is really wrong in Aristaville. IMHO, it's the best song by a hair, on this album, followed by Blown Away, GG, See You Again, Good in Goodbye, Wine after Whiskey, One Way Ticket, and the beautiful, Forever Changed.

You should inform Carrie that her career is hanging on by a thread and her only hope of ever having any success again is if she releases SYA. It's not like there are any other good songs on the album that can save her dying career. I completely agree with this. "See You Again" is a great song, it just isn't the best decision to release to country radio. It's one of the songs on the album that is not very country, and since the other songs that aren't very country all have strong possibilities in being singles (Blown Away, Two Black Cadillacs, Good In Goodbye), I think "See You Again" would not be the best choice. I also don't think Good In Goodbye would be as good of a decision as Wine After Whiskey as the token ballad single from this release because I feel like Carrie should release some of the more country singles to appeal to the more traditional side of her fan base (hopefully DYTAM can fill this along with WAW). So as TBC and BA become singles, because both are likely to happen, then I think SYA wouldn't be the best choice for country radio. Now if they wanted to release it to Christian and/or HAC while a countrier song is her current single at country radio, then I'm all for it and think that would be a great idea. --------------------------------- On a side note, Blown Away spends a fourth week at #1 on the Billboard country albums chart, and it is the first to do so since 2010! Carrie is also the second country artist in history to have three consecutive albums go #1 on the Billboard Top 200 albums chart and she is also the second artist in history to have their first four albums all go #1 on the country albums chart! That's pretty impressive! I wonder who the other person she shares those records with is/are! Read the full article here: tasteofcountry.com/carrie-underwood-blown-away-country-charts/

If Arista is looking to release a song that will appease the traditional side of the country Genre, then it's a no brainer it should be Cupid. JMO

Carrie Underwood's singing partner, Randy Travis started his career with FIVE chart topping CDs: Storms Of Life (1986), Always & Forever (1987), Old 8 X 10 (1988), No Holding Back (1989), and Heroes & Friends (1990).

I know I'm super late, but I felt like adding my opinion anyways 1. Good Girl (Best song to start this era with) 2. Blown Away (To both Country and Pop) 3. Two Black Cadillacs 4. Good in Goodbye 5. Do You Think About Me/See You Again (I'd prefer SYA, but DYTAM is better suited for country radio I guess) 6. One Way Ticket 7. Wine After Whiskey (7 singles may be a long shot, but if they did I would love to end this era with this song. <3) My life would be complete if this happened! ^_^

I agree that "See You Again" is an amazing song...I think it's tied with "Blown Away" for my favorite song on the album. But with that said, I don't really want SYA as a single, at least not for country radio. I can listen to it whenever I want, and I personally wouldn't mind hearing it on country radio, but I just think there are better more country-sounding songs that are still great songs as well and I guess I just sorta like the idea of SYA remaining a gem.
I've listened to the album dozens of times now and it's been a month, and my order of singles hasn't changed much. I do think "Good In Goodbye" should be a single, but I actually disagree with some of those posters who said it wasn't country. It has virtually nothing 'pop' sounding about it, at least to me. It starts with just a piano, and around 0:30, it mixes in superb mandolin playing that is very prevalent around the 1:30 mark as well, before the song kicks into a bit more of a power ballad, big chorus sound. But it never sounds really 'poppy' to me. The lyrics are purely country and it's such a promising story despite being bittersweet as well. But I definitely hear that mandolin every time and I LOVE it.
Plus, with GIG's early digital success, I think it would be a wise choice as a/the ballad single. And while I love "Two Black Cadillacs", I just don't know if I see that one as a definite single like most others do, simply because I don't know if it will be able to get out of the shadow that is "Blown Away". They already had a mostly non-country single in "Good Girl", and will have a pop power ballad in "Blown Away" that is a GREAT song and certainly not as edgy as GG is sonically, but still doesn't sound very country. That's 2 singles right there, and at most I think we'll get 5 (I love plotting what would come 6th and 7th, but if I'm being realistic...how many albums go that deep? Not many), so I think the other 3 singles will be a little less 'dramatic' or 'pop-sounding', ie, not so much in the big power ballad sound.
So, for me...
1) Good Girl 2) Blown Away 3) Good In Goodbye 4) Cupid's Got A Shotgun 5) One Way Ticket
CGAS is definitely country through and through, and OWT just seems like the perfect summer single. Again, I LOVE SYA and TBC but I just don't know if I can see them both being singles. If either (or both) were to get released, though, I certainly wouldn't complain. "Wine After Whiskey" is also great so if they went with that as well, maybe instead of GIG, that would be ok...or maybe it would replace another song instead of GIG. I could live with DYTAM or LLA as singles as well. The only ones I don't want are "Forever Changed", "Nobody Ever Told You", "Thank God For Hometowns", and "Who Are You". None of them are bad, but TGFH proves that this isn't Carrie's best album...sorry, but seriously, couldn't she have found a better song to take its place? There were a lot of interesting titles for co-writes that didn't make the cut, and I could definitely do without TGFH. It's not terrible, and I actually enjoy the theme, but this one is just too cliche and generic and has a pretty lame title. If she wanted a song like that, surely they could've come up with something better.
Anyway, I love the album and think it has a LOT of great single choices. I can't wait to see GG hit #1 on Monday...I think we'll probably see it fall pretty fast, since it has been in the top 10 so long and everyone has heard the album by now, so radio will drop GG fast in favor of the 2nd single, which I'm sure they're chomping at the bit to play. I don't think the 2nd single (presumably "Blown Away") will go out to radio on Monday yet, but maybe the following Monday (the 11th?) it could maybe be sent out already.

Realistically speaking, I'm quite confident the label is going to do this:
01. Good Girl 02. Blown Away 03. Two Black Cadillacs 04. Cupid's Got a Shotgun 05. One Way Ticket
Sadly, I don't see any of the other popular choices like "Good in Goodbye", "Wine After Whiskey", "See You Again", etc we've been listing getting released as singles. Remember what happened with "Someday When I Stop Loving You" and "What Can I Say"?

My issue with See You Again isn't the message. For those who love the song, great! My main gripe is I'm just not fond of the melody and production (and the annoying oh oh's). The ending is gorgeous, though. I was all for Jesus, Take The Wheel and Temporary Home being released. I'm just not a fan of this one. Sorry, and as I said, for those who love the song and have found peace with it, I'm happy for you.
Good in Goodbye is good, but I think I found my reason as to why I don't like it better. I absolutely love the first 1:30 of the song, but then the production amps up too much, in my opinion. I think it should've stayed piano throughout the rest of the song, but oh well. The lyrics also don't seem as strong in the second verse as the incredibly strong first verse. The lyrics and sound of Do You Think About Me remain solid throughout the entire song. That's why I prefer it. I don't think both songs will be released as singles. It will either be one or the other (or neither). I won't be mad if Good in Goodbye is released, though, and I would prefer this over some other choices for sure..
Cupid is definitely country to the core, but I just haven't been able to really get into it for some reason. It's a good song, but it hasn't really grabbed me. If it's released, my opinion could change, but I just think that there are better songs to release that showcase a different side to Carrie (even Good in Goodbye).

I agree about GIG production as well. Although I do love the track a lot, I would've loved it even more if the production stayed the same throughout. Which is why I would really love to hear Carrie perform/record an acoustic version of it. I wouldn't complain at all if both DYTAM and GIG get released as singles. In fact, I'll be a happy fan
