Glad to see Carrie is settling into a consistent sales pattern. Last week 32k, this week 27-30k, excellent to see! Hopefully "Blown Away" the single can propel sales higher to a point where Platinum becomes within reach.

Gold certification for the album should come in soon enough! :) Hopefully it'll be Platinum by the end of the 2012. Awesome week for Carrie, and she's got the Australian tour coming up in a few weeks! :) CMC is preparing and airing a "Carrie Underwood Story" special in honor of Carrie's tour.

Carrie talks about Erich Church's comments...for a bit. Sorry if already posted. Carrie's right, everyone is entitled to their opinion. But Eric's opinion was really, really stupid. He himself doesn't seem so smart and he must be perfectly fine with biting the hands that feed him, like opening for Miranda. Anyway, Carrie is classy as always. I wish she woulda taken a dig at him like he deserves, but good for her for consistently taking the high road.

I wouldn't call Eric stupid... His comments were ignorant, but he's not alone in the way he thinks. A lot feel that; American Idol, Nashville Star, The Voice, etc are comparable to "cheating" when it comes to making it in the music industry. Sure, they're faster platforms with which to 'make it'. However, if the talent isn't there, the platform one uses doesn't matter. He also doesn't realize that many reality show contestants have "paid their dues". Many, including Carrie, played shows throughout their childhood, adolescent, and teenage years. Carrie was even signed to a label when she was fourteen, I believe, but was dropped due to the label falling apart. She also recorded demos and live CDs throughout her time growing up. Carrie certainly worked hard with what she had before Idol came around. To say she doesn't deserve what she has today simply because of where she started would be utterly ridiculous. People also don't consider how hard these competition shows really are for their contestants. We see two hours of performances a week on Idol, but those kids literally work 24/7. During the day of eliminations, for example, they're choosing songs for the next week, memorizing them, arranging them, and even recording them. All the while, they have to rehearse for their results-show performances, and partake in lots of outside work (music video shoots, movie premieres, press, etc). Idol has been referred to as "music industry bootcamp". From what I've observed, that statement seems rather accurate.
Truth be told, Eric's statement was made based on only what he knows. He knows nothing about these reality shows. He doesn't know how hard these contestants work, he doesn't know what they go through, he knows absolutely nothing about this topic. He has every right to feel the way he does, but it's clear his "opinion" is backed up by nothing but misconstrued, biased knowledge. He knows of only his experiences, so how is it fair to judge and critique the careers and experiences of others? It's not - he CLEARLY was in the 'wrong', and I'm glad Carrie said something.
If any person has a right to judge others in respect to this topic, it's people like Carrie and Miranda. Not only do they know what it's like to compete on reality shows, they also know what it's like to struggle as rising artists; playing small shows, and just trying to get noticed. If anything, I'd take their word(s) over Eric, whose view is undoubtedly one-sided.
In any case, that's my take on the whole thing. I've been waiting to hear Carrie's input, and I'm thrilled to hear how she was rather upfront. Usually, Carrie would keep quiet about these things, but it's clear this truly bothered her - I'm glad she said something!

On Duets tonight, Jennifer Nettles and her partner sang HGTA. Carrie's version is showing up on iTunes at #732 after the show has aired

Best Use of Dramatic Silence YES YES YES to the a cappella bridge of Carrie Underwood’s killer single “Good Girl.” The glitzy diva, who took home the night’s biggest prize, killed the growly anthem — last night was certainly the best I’ve ever heard her sing it — but the peak of the performance was when all the music and lights in the house cut out (except for the audience’s twinkling cell-phone screens) and she ripped into the rocker full-force. Worst Hosts When it comes to country awards hosting hierarchy, the list goes: 1. Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley 2. Blake Shelton and Reba McEntire 3. Whoever hosted that month’s country awards show and 4. Toby Keith and Kristen Bell. Best Reaction to Winning an Award Everything about Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood’s response to winning the first award of the night, Collaborative Video of the Year, for their duet “Remind Me” was delightful. Paisley, whose wife couldn’t be at the show, instantly hugged Underwood’s husband, hockey player Mike Fisher, after hearing his name called. Fisher, hilariously, also chose to hug Paisley before his own wife. Still, Underwood did get her embrace, and she left her man holding her sparkly clutch when she took the stage, where she ribbed the two guys about it. ”Did you see my husband hug him first?” she joked. Take note, Toby and Kristen; this is what hosting chemistry looks like. music-mix.ew.com/2012/06/07/cmt-music-awards-2012-best-worst/

If Eric thought that using the Idol platform was cheating or an easy way to get noticed, why didn't he enter. I know, he knows, and we all know, he probably wouldn't have made it to the final 24 or 48 even. He's able to get a contract because he's a good songwriter and average singer. He has a great way of performing and has an "attitude" on stage. Good for him, but he's never going to be considered a great singer. If he ever wins an CMT/ACM country male vocal award, it'll be because of the song and not the singer. He's not a stupid person, but he did make a stupid remark. He'll continue being successful in country music, but imho, he'll be slightly more careful in what he says about his peers. Or not.

Gah, she is a terrific human being.
I'm actually pleasantly surprised at how direct she was about the whole thing. She didn't hold back, at all. I have so much respect for her.

She has really blossomed since meeting Mike and she isn't afraid now to express her opinions on different issues. I am so proud of her. She has grown into her skin and you can tell just by how radiant and happy she is now

There are a lot of country artist that support Gay marriage. I don't think it is that big of a issue.

Go, Carrie! It's one thing to quietly endorse gay marriage--far more important to vocally stand up for it. Can't see it affecting her in this day and age. Those that aren't with it are the ones out of touch with their surroundings, not Carrie (and other supportive country artists). It's obvious Carrie wants to be a star and be remembered--she's just making sure she's on the right side of history.

That whole article is great. Proud of Carrie stating her opinions more freely now. She's much more comfortable than she's ever been.

I don't remember ever hearing her say anything about gay rights, so I sort of assumed she was neutral in the position. I'm so glad to hear she is pro gay rights. Even if she loses fans from that (which would be a horribly close-minded way to view an artist... by their views on marriage), she will gain a lot of fans by saying that too. I am an even bigger fan now that she has straight up said that.
Good for you, Carrie! (Plus, I don't know how you could be in the music industry and NOT be accepting of gays...)

There are some.....Interesting conversations on Carrie fans about the things Carrie said about gay marriage. I know there won't be that much of a backlash by society as a whole, but this has stirred up things a bit for people with different opinions. I just don't see the controversy in it... She is talking about LOVE. Though I guess I don't follow politics so I don't know the controversy.
I love that Carrie spoke about loving all people. That is what the world needs to realize. She is just perfect!

This is something I've waited years to hear her say. I promised myself I'd stick with her either way, but this just seals the deal. I'm beyond thrilled about this!

^^ There is nothing I respect more from someone than honesty. As a fan, my respect for Carrie has grown immensely this week after hearing her candidly answer an interviewer's question about Eric Church's comments. In addition, I commend her for providing a decisive answer to the interviewer's question about gay marriage, despite that high likelihood that her audience and peers are one of the most conservative in the music industry. This refusal to sit on the fence for fear of backlash (like so many in the entertainment industry do) speaks to her confidence as an artist and as a woman within her own belief system. As I have grown older, I most enjoy learning about Carrie "the person" moreso than Carrie "the artist", the entertainment-industry persona. I think that is why I quite enjoyed the Oprah special a few weeks back. I hope to hear more such candid thoughts from her in the future.
