With earbuds, I noticed the loud wind howling sound during 3:28-3:34 and 3:53-4:02 simulating the tornado. Quite awesome.

It didn't exceed my expectations, but it's still amazing. I was just expecting...more.

I thought the video was wonderful. The only thing I would have added was in the first scene. She would of had maybe a bruised cheek or split lip. Would have given a reason for the father wanting to make up for something he did by helping her(many abusivie fathers/husbands feel guilty for a short time after they are violent) and a reason for her not wanting anything from him. As for seeing the demolished house at the end, there is suppose to be nothing left of yesterday and there wasn't. I thought that was perfect. I also thing the production of the song conveys well that there are two storms raging, on from mother nature and one inside an abused daughter. jmo

I liked the ending because just as the lyrics say " Till there's nothing left standing, Nothing left of yesterday. It ended with nothing left standing. Perfect.

Even though I tried not to buy into the hype, I am a bit disappointed. The video gives us no real reason to hate the father; he's just shown yelling, and not even really at her. And while I didn't need to see a board impale him or anything, I think a bit more direct visuals of him dying would have been good in conjunction with showing a bit more proof of him being abusive. So, in general, just don't think the video went far enough.
I like a lot of the colors and visuals, though.

www.roughstock.com/blog/single-review-carrie-underwood-blown-awayIn mainstream country music, fewer artists have a more consistent track record than Carrie Underwood. One of the few American Idol alumni to actually have a career after their first album, Underwood has gotten to her enviable position by striking the right balance of marketability and artistry. Her songs aren't overly challenging or risky; neither are they forgettable and bland. Over the course of four albums, she's gradually built up a little variety, whether it be tender ballads that show off the softer end of her big voice ("Temporary Home") or potent up-tempos that recall Shania Twain at her best ("Cowboy Casanova").
That said, "Blown Away" finds her in territory that none of her prior singles have entered. It's far more pop than its predecessors, more grandiose, and far more risky. Like the gathering storm clouds she sings about, the production forms gradually throughout the first verse — synthesizer, pizzicato strings and chimes, then a wall of backing vocals, all building up to a soaring chorus. The overall thundrous production and echoed "blown away"s throughout also aid greatly in the dark, stormy feel.
Taut, simple but effective lyrics convey the scene, easily one of the darkest storylines in any recent country song. A storm is brewing near an Oklahoma house, occupied by an abusive drunk father and his daughter. When a twister hits and kills said father, the daughter calls it "sweet revenge." Swept up in the wind are both the house (in the literal sense) and the painful memories of the past (in the metaphorical sense). For only two verses and a chorus, an incredible amount of detail and metaphor is packed in for maximum impact.
"Blown Away" is the kind of song that comes along so rarely. It has all the markings of a career song — one of those songs that is remembered for years to come, like "The Dance." It's the kind of song that grabs hold of you from the first note and never lets go. It's the kind of song that makes itself known by sounding like absolutely nothing else on radio. It's the kind of song that provoked me to write a longer review than usual. I have rarely been this passionate about a single, but trust me on this one. "Blown Away" is a milestone song.

The video itself is a bit disappointment for me. I expected more fight/abuse. I expected to see that her mother or the grave or whatever from the 'mama was an angel' line.I expected that Carrie would have this fierce 'Go to hell you dad' face. I expected more dramatic 'shattered every window' like the BHC window thing.BUT I love how Carrie keeps it simple with the cloth (although i have to agree that the first dress was too much) and her make up was not over the top. I love the story line overall. I hope this will blow up the charts. At the very moment she sings those words, she's walking through what appears to be a cemetery. Also, in BHC, Carrie was shattering the windows with a bat, in this video, the tornado/storm is doing all the work. They show plenty of broken windows, shattered glass, etc... If they had used the effects utilized in BHC, this entire video would look over-the-top fake. Oh yeah, i just noticed that she's walking thru the cemetery :) Well, i know it would be too much if they effect like BHC but i just expected more because the house was about to be blown away. )p

The video of Blown Away is #1 all genre on iTunes. Meanwhile, the album dropped a few spots, to #34. But a lot of new albums come out on Tuesday, and many of them rise quickly and then fall like a rock. The song moved up to #26.

The video is #1 on the all-genre chart! Has Carrie ever achieved this before? I can't remember. I know GG didn't.

Good in Goodbye has to be the third single. It's a little hard for me to listen to right now but it's easily one of the most relatable songs, if not the most relatable song on the album.

I think the promotion placed into the video is paying off already with the #1 video in the country on iTunes USA and the song up to #24 already.

That Roughstock review was great. The writer, Bobby Peacock, is a regular in the country forum here on Pulse--he goes by the name Ten Pound Hammer.

25 23 CARRIE UNDERWOOD 19/ARISTA NASHVILLE 13,045 -2% BLOWN AWAY I think next week we might see a slight increase because of all the video promo/hype.

I thought the video was good, but it wasn't as good as I was expecting it to be (I had high expectations for it, very high).
I wish they could have shown the house getting destroyed more, and the end with the random dog was weird. I wish they had shown the same landscape with the house with the bright blue sky except the house not there, just the foundation.

Carrie's at the CMA Songwriters Series event right now, and she just sang: "It's like a river that's so damn wide, it swallows you whole."

This CMA song writer concert is one of the coolest concerts I've ever watched!
Someone, somewhere better be capping this! She just murdered the end of "Pontoon"!

Was that at the very beginning of 'Undo It' ? Her vocals on 'Undo It' were perfect, although she can not make me like that song. Hillary is about to sing 'Jesus', wish she did the harmony only honestly...

God bless Hillary Lindsey! Without her, Carrie wouldn't have had the career she'd had!

All of which she undeniably killed. Carrie is perfect tonight. I'd pay good money to own this on DVD. Also, Hillary Lindsey is DEFINITELY drunk and I love it!

According to Carrie, "Two Black Cadillacs" is a very likely single. She said she'd love to hear it on the radio at some point. She basically hinted very much at it being a single eventually.
