countrybamafan:
I enjoyed reading your post and much of what you suggest sounds possible but you may have forgotten that in 2010 Carrie had the top country female tour and if memory serves, her tour scored high in the all genre tour list as well. She received no EOTY nomination while some 'yet to headline' artists did. I agree that Miranda had, for years been working hard to get noticed by the awards committees and eventually she did with a song she didn't write. This song had a long shirttail that was good for what, 2 years? I'm focusing on Miranda because that's when and where, in my eyes the country industry interest seemed to shift. The focus on Miranda only served to highlight the discrepancy between the 2 artists success history and longevity.I don't understand how 7 years of multiplatinum album performances, #1 chart toppers, successful tours, a one-person multi-media attraction is trumped by another performer whose stats don't come anywhere near CU's. Not then or now, even with the advantage of the country industry backing, awards and more exposure via Blake. In any case this scenario defies explanation as it's like trying to find reason where only unreasonableness resides.

Not then or now, even with the advantage of the country industry backing, awards and more exposure via Blake. In any case this scenario defies explanation as it's like trying to find reason where only unreasonableness resides. Oh, I agree with what you are saying. As I was saying though, 2010 was the year that changed everything for EOTY, and the industry seemed to want to make a statement by nominating "fresher" artists (Taylor Swift, Zac Brown Band, Lady Antebellum, Miranda Lambert) rather than the usual 5. I completely agree that it's a head-scratcher why Miranda was nominated for EOTY when she wasn't even close to headlining a big tour on her own (and she exploded largely due to one song). The only explanation I can think of is that many in the industry felt like she was being underrated for so long, so when she finally had success, they were excited that they could finally shower her with awards. The problem was that they went a bit overboard, especially putting her in EOTY. And, of course, 2010 was the year of statement, so she just came in at the right time. And, unfortunately, Carrie wasn't as "fresh" as those other artists, so she was left out. As I said (or meant to say, sorry if my previous post was confusing), I believe that if Carrie's big 2010 tour had been in 2009 instead, she had a good chance of squeezing in a spot. Of course, we'll never know. One other thing I don't believe I mentioned previously is that Carrie doesn't tour much during the summer. I think this could slightly hurt her chances because the CMA nominations come out during the summer, and some people have short attention spans. (I would also argue that Carrie could sell even more tickets during the summer because I would venture to guess that more people go to a concert during the summer than any other season. But that's just my guess).

^^If Carrie can't get at least an EOTY nod after all those amazingly great years, these amazingly great years won't change anything. Carrie's eventual legendary status will always be followed by a head-turning asterisk. **see below
**never received an EOTY nomination, WHY? Your guess is as good as ours.

Just thought I'd mention that on CMT Insider's hit list they include Hot Country AirPlay as their new official chart. Hot Country Songs was only mentioned prior when talking about Taylor Swift, but they completely omitted it from the hit list segment.

Both "Country Weekly" and the "gold derby" predict Carrie to win Female Vocalist at the CMAs. I can't help but feel somewhat happy (particularly about Country Weekly) because a lot of the people predicting are likely some of the ~6,000 industry voters, I assume... The CW predictions are in the magazine, so I cannot post a link. The other website posting odds however, is linked below. www.goldderby.com/odds/index/64/

^That website also thinks that Love and Theft is going to win New Artist over Lee Brice, Hunter Hayes, Thompson Square, and Brantley Gilbert. So I would take everything with a grain of salt. It is great that people are predicting Carrie to win though.

It is great that people are predicting Carrie to win though. That's a given, and we are talking about the CMAs after all. It's more or less nice to see people actually recognize Carrie as the most deserving nominee this year, whether she wins or not.

He's been "new" for a while now. Gotta love the CMAs and their logic.

He's been "new" for a while now. Gotta love the CMAs and their logic. Just like when the Grammys gave Shelby Lynn Best new artist after she'd been recording for a major label for over a decade. Even she called them out on it in her acceptance speech.

He's been "new" for a while now. Gotta love the CMAs and their logic. That's why the award should be changed back to the "Horizon Award." It just makes the most sense because the purpose is to reward an artist who has broken through, not necessarily a "new" artist.

I wonder if a second leg will be added to the tour. I can't see why it wouldn't since the ticket sales have been very good, but I suppose that's up to Carrie's schedule as well.
When did we get word of the fall leg for the PO Tour back in 2010? If anyone can recall...

I never got why it was changed from Horizon Award in the first place.

So..."See You Again" is on WUSN, WTQR, & KITX's online Mediabase request forms. Hmm.
Speaking of SYA, I love this:

I'd be happy with "See You Again" being released (though I'd prefer my favorite of the album: "Do You Think About Me").
On a random note: "You Won't Find This" remains one of Carrie's top tier tracks. Perfection.

If they don't do anything with "Blown Away" on pop (which would be a shame), they should send "See You Again" next to pop, while sending "Do You Think About Me" to country.

I really hope DYTAM is the next one. I love SYA, and it's probably one of my favorites, but releasing it to country would be a mistake. It's too pop and I have a feeling the whole country/pop will reach its limits in a few short months because of the whole "Never Ever" fiasco. I feel country listeners are starting to be over country radio pushing them pop songs. And while that happens, it's best if Carrie keeps it country.

I think it would be smarter for Carrie's label to go more country on her next single. "Do You Think About Me" is perfect. It may not do as well on the new Billboard charts but no one seems to really be focusing on those anyway. While Taylor is taking over with all o her undeniably Pop-leaning material, Carrie will look really good to many of the folks in Nashville if she stays more on the Country side of the tracks. "Do You Think About Me" needs to be next and I still think it will.

Yes, the All Access special was filmed during the afternoon prior to her show at the Staples Center. "Blown Away" is now featured on the Pop-Off. "Good Girl" was on this same poll for 3-4 weeks, I believe. You can vote here: popdust.com/pop-off/

If they don't send BLOWN AWAY to pop, i doubt they will send any future single (from BA album) to pop since BA has the biggest potential on pop radio.

Neither "GG" or "BA" is overtly country, so I definitely think the 3rd single needs to be something truly country. And as has been said, the label hasn't courted crossover success outside of Adult Top 40, so there is no need in any sense for a pop song to be the third single.

ETA: ^^Another great set of boxscores. Loving the Staples Center sell-out!
Or they could dual release a Country single and a Pop single at the same time.
Nonetheless, though, signs are pointing towards either DYTAM or SYA as the next single. DYTAM because it seems likely with the live performance from the Unplugged special, and SYA because of its newest adds on multiple radio stations' online Mediabase request forms. I think either would be a fantastic choice, but to see SYA get a release would be thrilling.

music.yahoo.com/blogs/chart-watch/chart-watch-extra-american-idol-top-dozen-171239977.htmlSome updates for old songs this week. ''Cowboy Casanova'' will probably become her third 2 million seller at some point. That, or ''Remind Me''. Or ''Blown Away''. And if they don't release ''Blown Away'' to pop, then ''See You Again'' should not be released at all. I don't see it having much succes on pop and I think it will do horrible (for Carrie standards) on country.

I haven't seen this posted yet, but it's a nice interview and she comfirms she'll be at the AMAs and it's obvious she will perform (2:55 onwards).
