No if Carrie didn't win for anything from BA this yr, she def not winning anything next year. They've just moved on. Sort of like when the Emmys stop acknowledging a show, they never go back. lol Same I guess for here. Yeah, but if she has an undeniable year, she may at least be able to garner nominations? It's a long shot, I know, but I do hope Carrie eventually at least earns an Entertainer nomination... She's definitely the longest overdue in terms of a nomination. Also, Miranda should have a quiet (in between album cycle year), and Taylor isn't typically a Female Vocalist contender as of recently, so Carrie may have a shot, IF her 2013 is big... Then again, someone new could come and take it from them all... I don't know, I tend to be optimistic about these things, perhaps that's not a good thing...

Next year, Carrie will have a full tour and the title track, as well as (probably) 2 more singles, under her belt. 2013 will probably be more promising.
However, don't get so sure of it. It's the CMAs. Like realityBITES said, they've seemed to have moved on.

I mean just look at the list of winners. 1967 Loretta Lynn 1968 Tammy Wynette 1969 Tammy Wynette 1970 Tammy Wynette 1971 Lynn Anderson 1972 Loretta Lynn 1973 Loretta Lynn 1974 Olivia Newton-John 1975 Dolly Parton 1976 Dolly Parton 1977 Crystal Gayle 1978 Crystal Gayle 1979 Barbara Mandrell 1980 Emmylou Harris 1981 Barbara Mandrell 1982 Janie Fricke 1983 Janie Fricke 1984 Reba McEntire 1985 Reba McEntire 1986 Reba McEntire 1987 Reba McEntire 1988 K.T. -I also enjoyed the 'Blown Away' performance from the gorgeous instrumental, the dramatic tornado, and of beautiful vocals. Her only issue was running out of breath during the final chorus, which also likely affected her head voice note. While I don't think it was her best televised vocal performance, it was certainly stellar on multiple levels. -I also was disappointed that she didn't win Female Vocalist of the Year, but since I don't follow Miranda Lambert's career, I have no idea who was more deserving. -Her hosting abilities continue to improve year-to-year. She had me cracking up throughout the show -Her vocal on that song with Brad was so pure. I need a full blown country record from her at some point in her career.

i really think the eoty for carrie ship has sailed, unless i guess she divorces mike and marries jason aldean or luke bryan.
but i think its such, such a shame that when it's all said and done, blake freaking shelton won an eoty and carrie freaking underwood did not. there was a two-year period where she was just larger than life than anyone else in country music, but i guess her biggest mistake was not asking american idol for a judge position on the show.

It's a pretty obvious dig at Blake Shelton.

They've just moved on. Sort of like when the Emmys stop acknowledging a show, they never go back. Yeah, I think that's pretty much the nature of the award. I mean just look at the list of winners. 1997 Trisha Yearwood 1998 Trisha Yearwood 1999 Martina McBride 2000 Faith Hill 2001 Lee Ann Womack 2002 Martina McBride 2003 Martina McBride 2004 Martina McBride 2005 Gretchen Wilson 2006 Carrie Underwood 2007 Carrie Underwood 2008 Carrie Underwood 2009 Taylor Swift 2010 Miranda Lambert 2011 Miranda Lambert 2012 Miranda Lambert Thanks for the list, Typo. Just looking at these last 15 years even, it's really quite telling. So now my question is...is the CMA just gonna continue to give the award to Miranda until someone is ready to take her place? Right now, there's no one big enough, unless they give it to Taylor for the next 2-3 years (maybe they'd go back to her, since she's only won it once), but she has a lot of critics not only because of her vocal skills (or lack thereof), but also because she has veered quite far from the country genre, and so I think that will always hurt her chances with at least enough of the voters to keep her from winning. So, I'll say Miranda gets one more award, and Kelly Clarkson will sneak in and steal one, and by that time, Jana Kramer will be big enough that she'll be able to reel off 3 wins. Then, it'll go to Kacey Musgraves, and so on and so forth.. I may or may not be completely sarcastic with that last paragraph. Carrie deserves to win it again. Her career is still very young. Hopefully the trend will be bucked, and Carrie will be able to win Female Vocalist of the Year again.

Then, it'll go to Kacey Musgraves, and so on and so forth.. i dunno...i think next year will be a real toss-up. just because come voting time, giving miranda a fourth consecutive award should be enough to give most voters a pause, just like they had a pause about giving carrie that fourth straight award when she had her chance. only reba has won it four straight times. as much as i like miranda, i think it will be ridiculous to have her go down in history alongside reba to be the only ones to win the award 4 straight times. tammy didnt do it. loretta didnt. carrie sure didnt. martina as well. so are the voters going to be that brave (or stupid) to think shes really, really that good to go down in history with that honor? a once in a lifetime talent that transcends most of the awesome women in country music??? its already ridiculous that she can claim the same honor as reba, carrie, tammy and martina, really, and when you think about it, all of this is really based on just one album and one awesome song, people thinking poor miranda why isnt she recognized more, and being part of a ridiculous power couple story. faith hill is crying somewhere. her power couple story only got her one award. whats another shame is jennifer nettles not ever, like ever getting an fvoty, just because shes not a solo artist, despite giving the some of the best interpretative performances in songs in the last decade, and that kelly clakrson is actually closer to winning the award than she would ever be. for shame for real. i think by now its safe to say that that year was an anomaly and the cmas have rightfully slapped themselves silly over that. she keeps getting nominated because who else is there? cmas have no imagination to extend beyond who they know off the top of their head that they can name in 5 seconds. heck, maybe next year we get lucky and we get a new filler other than martina.

She won in 1999, then had the hat trick from 2002-2004. For next year, though, either the voters have to go back to Taylor Swift (which you say they won't--that they slapped themselves for even giving her the award once), or give Carrie or Miranda their 4th. No one else is likely to be big enough. The only females that are really looking to break through at country radio are Jana Kramer and maybe Kacey Musgraves, but again, they might be too new and not be 'big' enough, simply not having enough hits to warrant winning the award.

Carrie will be actively touring through Spring of 2013, and hopefully she keeps busy in the Summer as well. She has never done a Summer leg of a tour, and she really should. I'd love to go to a Carrie Underwood outdoor Summertime concert, and I know I'm not the only one. As long as Carrie stays prevalent on Country radio (which she will), and a steady sales contender, then she'll always be in the running. Miranda should have a fairly quiet year. She's at the end of her latest album era, and will probably take the majority of the year to make and release a new album. I seriously doubt she'll hang on for a fourth year... Three seems to be the threshold if you're not Martina or Reba. Taylor will have a huge year, no doubt, but she has seemingly fallen out of contention for Female Vocalist based on a number of things. Her 2009 win was undeniable based on her massive success, but I don't see that happening again as long as Carrie and Miranda are around.
I think by now if there was a new female to contend with the big 3, she'd start coming about now. So in that I think Jana Kramer could at least be nominated. But we'll see, if she ends up being a "one-hit-wonder", then no, but if she has continued radio success, maybe a nomination? Unless she or another new female have a truly unprecedented year, it'll still be a Carrie-Taylor-Miranda race. Now there's always Martina, Reba, Sara, LeAnn Rimes, Faith Hill, etc... Faith and LeAnn are releasing new music, so they could contend. Any of these females releasing new music could possibly pose a threat, for at least a nomination spot, but that's doubtful.
There's also Kelly Clarkson who has plans to actively promote herself within Country music, and clearly she didn't even have to push for a nomination (relative to other females in Country), so she's clearly a threat. Unless she has some crazy success, I doubt she'll win, but you never now...
Overall, next year it'll be a Carrie-Taylor-Miranda race again, unless something crazy happens, but that's doubtful... Carrie will have had the most full year in terms of radio, album sales, touring, etc... Taylor will be second in that field starting her tour in March of next year. Miranda will likely be third, so I do think this latest win for Miranda will be her last, at least for a while... This obviously disregards the voters and how they vote, but based on merit, this is how I think it'll go. Carrie should be a leading contender next year, no doubt, and it will be a very interesting race to watch indeed.

(just probably not worded properly) but still coasting on some leftover hype and goodwill, that miranda has a shot at it, which is a shame, imo. theres still some higher bragging rights on winning it four in a row rather than just nonconsecutive. although both are very rare achievements and something to be proud of. but its still a year a way. and a lot can happen in a year. like before, who could have predicted the kanye incident changind the music scene entirely??? maybe we get a similar one in the coming year but a different beneficiary. lol.

Ok, that was a fun read. This weirded me out, though:
Do you think it might have something to do with the fact that it’s never been who she is? You can sustain a fake image only for so long. It will only take you so long before you tire of it and, eventually, the audience too. The Carrie Underwood that’s been presented to you is very different from the real Country Bitch. What if, finally, they unchained the Country Bitch and let her run free?
Unlikely.
They are talking almost as if they know something about it. I don't know, Carrie has always seemed to be a sweetheart to me, and sure, she may be competitive when it comes to her job, but I doubt anyone isn't. It doesn't make her a bitch, at all.

Actually, I thought Carrie's performance was kind of weak last night. For her, anyway. She kept going sharp, sort of throughout the song, until the end notes, where she went flat. Just shaky, which surprised me after her perfect BMA performance. No one can hold a note like she does though. She reminds me of Celine Dion in that way (actually, a number of ways, vocally).
Still, not 100% what constitutes the Female Vocalist award, but she seemed a pretty obvious victor there. She clearly worked hard on this CD so I hope she feels like it was worth it, because she pushed herself in a good direction. "Blown Away" is the most arresting song I've heard from her or her main country competition.

how did carrie get "worst losing facial expression?" lol... did anyone else notice the look on taylor's face when blake mentioned her during his entertainer of the year speech? she looked really mad IMO
also, i thought carrie's performance last night was amazing! maybe not as good as the BMA performance because of like 2 flat notes, but still probably better than anyone else.

Well here's the thing, a performance by Carrie that isn't perfect by her standards is still usually better than anyone else (from a vocal standpoint).

Sounds to me like Lainey needs to get a life. She's been trashing Carrie for years, and no one is listening. Even if Carrie IS a bitch behind the scenes (hey, it wouldn't be the first time a "down to earth" star has been outed as a diva), why is it so important to this woman? It's Carrie's life, maybe she should find someone else to gripe about. At this point, she comes across like a whiney, insecure 13 year old who needs to get a life of her own and grow up. She's so obsessed with outing Carrie as a bitch, it's ridiculous. No one cares, go away, lady.

I love Carrie but last night Kelly stole the show "from a vocal standpoint." I feel Carrie should've won the award for best Female Vocalist but her performance itself wasn't near one of her best.

I have to politely disagree, no one stole anything from Carrie.. while her vocals may not have been perfect, they were passionate... she was singing for the fans.. Kelly is great but honestly, it all boils down to preference,
