She needs to record a traditional album. She sounds her best with that material. Screw the sales! ;)
Nice to see TBC promo coming around. Maybe Kelly Ripa's show or The View, as well...I'm guessing.

I have to say I am impressed by the promotion for this album so far. Even though she's on tour now, she's still promoting the singles and the album a lot. Great job by Carrie and her team, and I haven't even mentioned the first three perfect single choices. Love this album era so far.

She needs to record a traditional album. She sounds her best with that material. Screw the sales! ;) I'm at the point where I'm with you. The classic country covers she's performed over the years have been absolutely flawless, and the very short Once A Day was another very fine example of this. I got chills, and I turned to my friend and said "Carrie was born 40-50 years too late." Honestly, if Carrie and Loretta Lynn switched places, I think their careers would have been identical. Carrie's voice is meant for the classics (although similarly, her voice sounds amazing on 80's rock). I still feel that Carrie's material hasn't truly showcased the beauty of her voice. We've seen her power, but her beauty hasn't been showcased. I really would like to see her record a traditional album. As I already said in the CMA thread, it would obviously be more successful than Kellie's for so many reasons, so I think it's rather ridiculous to say that Carrie's traditional album wouldn't be successful just because Kellie's wasn't. But, seriously, although I love Blown Away (album and song), I'm hoping the next album leans more country. Blown Away (the song) is just amazing. Two Black Cadillacs is another solid choice (although I have to say that I liked the song better when it was first released. Ironically, I hated the production on Blown Away at first, but grew to love it. Now, I'm not so much on Two Black Cadillacs' production. I think on that song, a more country sound would have worked better. Then again, I said the same about Blown Away.

That despite the fact the telecast was the lowest rated ever, scoring 3.8 adults 18-49, down 21% from its 4.8 last year, even though ABC ended up winning the night, beating out runner-up CBS in total viewers by 7%. Insiders cited the effect of Hurricane Sandy on East Coast viewing habits, as well as the move from Wednesday to Thursday night for the year-to-year drop.
Aldean, who opened the show with Bryan and Album of the Year winner Church, saw sales nearly double overnight for Night Train, which is now at #4 on the iTunes chart. It was a big night as well for Capitol Nashville, now consolidated with UMG Nashville under its former chief Mike Dungan, with Little Big Town nabbing Single of the Year and Vocal Group of the Year honors and showing a whopping 260% increase day to day. The label’s Bryan and Church saw their most recent albums soar back into the iTunes chart at #5 and #6, benefiting from a $7.99 Great Country Albums promotion along with Underwood, who was also up by a significant amount. Church sold more than three times the amount of the previous day, while Bryan was up four times.

I would kind of like a side project from Carrie and Brad. Some classic, old country. A couple of songs by Brad, a couple of songs by Carrie and the rest duets. They would sell at least one.

I'm not a big fan of traditional country (in fact, I usually hate it), but I'd love that. Carrie's voice always sounds so good on those songs. I've loved her and Brad's takes on some classics - the one the other night, Make the World Go Away, and Louisiana Woman, Mississippi Man. MTWGA in particular was just beautiful.

I think it's hard for Carrie to have her best performances at the CMAs because she talks so much all week. Most singers try to stay quiet the days leading up to a show (and the day of the show) because talking is bad for the voice. Carrie has rehearsals and interviews the entire week of the CMAs and then is talking essentially until the last second before her performance. Of course she won't sound as good as on tour or other performances.
As far as the CMAs go, they may be "over" Carrie a bit, but I anticipate her winning Female next year and getting an Entertainer nomination. Miranda won't win next year unless she puts out an album soon. Her current project is fading, so she won't have the hits and the tour that Carrie will have for this next eligibility year. It should all get Carrie in Entertainer (this is her best eligibility year in awhile), but I certainly don't think they would give her the win.

Blake wins EOTY, Carrie has never even been nominated. Carrie sings better, has more number ones, sells more concert tickets and way more albums, and is a better host. I hear all this talk about Blake winning because of all the exposure he bring to country music. Uh Hello. Something is really wrong in country music voting land. If the case is well, Carrie doesn't need the notoriety and press, well they're right. But that's not a good enough reason to deny her a freaking nomination. If Miranda wins another FV award I'll throw up. Not because shes not a good singer, she is. But clearly, Carrie is a much better vocalist and has the songs, sales, and live performances to back her up. Miranda even seems embarrased, evidenced by her acceptance speech.

The music video is back in the Top 10, but it's never left the Top 20 since its release. Very impressive. Also, the album is still at #10. Should be a great sales week across the board!

So, it's been about six months since Blown Away was released, and we're just about to move on to single #3. The album should cross 900k in sales this week. What are the chances that it will end up surpassing the sales of Play On? Since the album has already been out for several months, will it be able to get a big enough boost during the holidays to push sales?

Thanks. That's what I figured. Last week was week 26 for Blown Away, and as of week 26 for Play On it had sold nearly 1.5 million already. It sold over a million copies by week 10. Granted, it had the benefit of being released during the best sales time of the year, but still. A 600k difference is pretty big.

Ugh, I don't get what the point of striking up another deal with Sony NY was if they aren't going to utilize it. The album would probably already have surpassed Play On by now if they would've actively promoted GG and BA to CHR. Not to mention the other songs on the album that could potentially become pop hits.

If I have the funds, I definitely would want to go to one of the shows on the next leg of the tour (even though there are none near me). I just hope she switches up the set list and adds "See You Again", "Wine After Whiskey" and even "Who Are You".

It'll reach double Platinum by the end of next year, I suspect. As long as they keep up with the solid single choices, consistent promo, and they keep doing occasional discounts on the album on iTunes, then it should be perfectly fine with hitting 2x Platinum.

Well, at this point it's averaging, what, 12k a week? That should rise during the holidays, but it will settle back down at the start of the year. Even if it could average 20k a week, it would need an entire year to reach double platinum.
Unless she sweeps the Grammys or has a major crossover hit that ignites album sales, this one isn't hitting 2x platinum.

Longevity and consistency with album sales have always been Carrie's strong suit, so to speak.
Say "Blown Away" averages 13.5k weekly through the end of the year, that's an additional ~100k for the year; four weeks for November and four weeks for December. 100k is probably a conservative number because for the three-four weeks before Christmas there are steady sales inclines. Then say the weekly average for all of 2013 is 10k, that's another 512k, and that 10k weekly could be either low or high depending on the single choices and such. 2x Platinum is certainly doable, but 2 million is physical sales may be more difficult to achieve by the end of 2013.

I think this has a shot at 2x platinum, though 1.5m is more likely, in my opinion. She should have no problem doing 150k or more during this time of the year (as the holiday hits, this will probably get close to 30k-40k during at least 2 weeks), but, unless there's a big hit, she'll probably be selling 2k per week by the end of next year. I believe she'll be done with this record by July (or even sooner), so, if she doesn't venture herself into Chr/pop territory, I don't see this having as long of a run as I'd like to believe.
