Just saw Carrie on the red carpet: she looks amazing (as usual), mentioned that she and Stevie Wonder are the only performers tonight not utilizing dancers. After one of the hosts, who watched her rehearsal yesterday, commented that she sounded as if she were lipping because she was that good, Carrie stated that she feels she can sing anything since her voice, as a muscle, is being exercised night after night while in full tour mode.

Very good first high profile performance, but not the best I have seen from her tour videos. The opening was a bit pitchy and the instrumental was too loud, but she took it home during the second half. I feel silly saying this but she is one of the few artists who is more stunning with time. :o

The first half was definitely rough between her pitch issues and the audio mix being so loud. It definitely got great by the end, though.

I thought Carrie sounded fantastic on "Cadillacs". The only issue was the sound - the music was turned up way too loud in comparison to Carrie's mic. But I think it was one of the best performances of the night, right up there with Pink. (Then again, I'm not a fan of 95% of these artists.)

For me, Carrie did great and was the night's highlight along with Pink's (always INCREDIBLE) performance...
I'm a bit tired of Carrie relying only on her vocals... I mean, they are fantastic, always, and should always be #1 over whatever gimmick other artists seem to use as distraction, but she needs to step it up a notch... not saying she needs to dance like Pink did, but she could do something bigger with the stage, like, in this case, having 2 black cadillacs and singing on top of them and stuff like that... that's why one of my favorite performances from her is Before He Cheats at the Grammys, she put an effort, changed the song a bit and still sounded fantastic. She has a lot to grow on that department, for sure!!

She doesn't need to - she has fantastic stage presence as it is, and her voice is always incredible. Maybe at this type of show the lack of gimmicks stood out, but IMO that's a good thing. ;) |
