Going into this chart, I realized that this chart was going to be crazy and records would be broken. Both those things have happened every week this year and they happened again. This chart was fun at first but as we headed into it, I was getting annoyed. This has been fun but it’s gotten old. I would love if things would just settle down and we could actually have a clear idea of what songs would succeed. That means making sure that songs that appear to fail actually failing and songs appearing to succeed succeeding and not the other way around. Let’s hope that happens soon.
Three songs have fallen off. God Is Still God finishes after two weeks which makes sense. It made no sense that it showed up in the first place and now is done already. Fall Apart falls off from 12. That makes no sense since that song is still doing well on the radios. Plus, Josh Wilson has defied the odds with his last two songs so you would think this one would survive. Courageous falls off from eight which makes absolutely no sense and is extremely unfair and irritating. That song is doing very well out there still but 20 TCM just drops. Casting Crowns aren’t supposed to fail like that, especially with how well Glorious Day did. I think it also breaks the record for the song that falls quickest off the chart after leaving number one at three weeks. Maybe there’s a chance it will recur next week but I doubt it. Let’s just hope that the weaker songs don’t have a chance.
At 20 is Give Them Jesus, our first new entry. It was cool that all three new entries were females. Has that ever happened before? This songs is excellent but I don’t think it has a chance. If it were to succeed, I’d be happy. At 19 is I Lift My Hands, falling two. It will be soon be gone. That is fine for it will allow new songs to chart. I don’t know if we will see a Chris Tomlin song on here for awhile since I’ve heard no plans for a third single from And If Our God Is For Us… You Lead debuts at 18. I expected that due to its popularity surge that I commented on earlier. I actually thought it might debut very high. It will be cool to see what this song may do. At 17 is Learning To Be The Light, slowing down unfortunately. It could fail but let’s hope it doesn’t. At 16 is our third debut, All This Time. This makes no sense because the song hasn’t been out for a month and has extremely little airplay. I’ll explain that later. This is a good song so it be cool if it made it on the year-end countdown. However, with Britt Nicole never having real success and the way it debuting making no sense, it’s unlikely.
At 15 is All Of Me, balancing out. I don’t think it will pull of anything but don’t know when it will go away either. At 14 is Strong Enough, dropping three. It is done as well. Unfortunately, I haven’t heard news of a new single either. We might have to wait until this fall to hear a Matthew West single as well. At 13 is When The Stars Burn Down, moving up two. Revelation Song debuted at 15 but spent five weeks at 15 and 14 until it finally moved along and did well. So, just because When The Stars Burn Down didn’t move too quickly doesn’t mean it’s done. I also previewed their new album and it sound good, much better than Fearless. I’ll have to listen to it when it comes out next month. Busted Heart moves on back up four places. It’s possible it could rebound and do well or at least hold on a while. I’ll explain that as well. At 11 is Battle rebounding for some reason. That song has gone through an erratic period as you can clearly see. I don’t why it doesn’t drop from 20 but goes back up but Courageous drops off from eight. Oh well.
Waiting For Tomorrow returns to ten. It could pull something off but it still don’t make sense. It and Fall Apart are on about the same level. They are out there on radio and were on here but Fall Apart is gone. I don’t get it. We Are steadies and it could fail. I hope it doesn’t for it is a good song and it would be cool to see Kari Jobe have a song do well. Love Come To Life falls back to eight. It is a good song but I don’t want it to succeed. With its slight drop, it might not. Lift Me Up, very fortunately, falls back to seven. Maybe it won’t take a huge drop but let’s hope it just keeps going and going. I do hope I Am Yours doesn’t succeed. If it falls off next week, it would join with Courageous in the fastest fall-off after leaving number one. At six is Turn Around, staying steady. Its run don’t make sense either but I don’t think it has a chance at making it. It could be gone soon as it’s been out a while. I won’t complain.
At five is Overcome, staying steady. I thought it might go to number one this week but it didn’t. I guess it won’t tie the record for the quickest rise to one. The only way to break the record is to have a debut at one. At four is Where I Belong, jumping six places. That makes me happy. It’s likely to go to one and it and Overcome have some chance to be number one. Or, at least I’d like to think so. Remind Me Who I Am remains steady at three. I thought it be the one to drop off which would have broken the record for the highest drop off ever. Unfortunately it didn’t and Courageous takes the fall. Let’s hope it drops soon. At two is Strong Enough To Save, staying steady at two. It could still hit number one but I’m hoping it fails. It is dropping out on the stations. At one remains My Hope Is In You for the 12th week in a row. That is extremely annoying because no song deserves to be at one for 12 weeks. I don’t care how good it is. Five weeks is enough. I hope it takes big drops because I don’t like repeats. Maybe the release of Risen Today will bring it down.
Britt Nicole was the artist spotlight. She talked about the story behind hew song All This Time. It is meant to be her salvation testimony. She was saved when she was seven as her parents were going through a divorce. She wants the song to remind people that God is always with them. It’s a simple but good message. I’d like when she mentioned her Precious Moments Bible. It made me think about Tim Hawkins mentioning there are certain images you won’t see in the Precious Moments Bible. There’s no Cain and Abel in there. The future favorite is What A Savior by Laura Story. It is a good song though I wish she hadn’t made it more upbeat from the album. It is meant to go along the same lines as Blessings where God has helped her through her recent struggles. Based off radio airplay charts, it looks to do well.
