it certainly doesn't help that IWALY is one of the saddest songs i've ever heard. Gets me choked up just listening to it. :(

NO ONE who has a current album out (aka potential to gain commercially from a tribute) should perform a tribute.... but the idea of the Grammy's going on tomorrow with no tribute at all is really inappropriate. She should be acknowledged in a big way.

With a cover of Whitney Houston/Dolly Parton's "I Will Always Love You" set to be included in Tuesday's Glee, producers of the Fox musical dramedy on Saturday were mulling whether to add a tribute to the late singer during Tuesday's episode.
The song, which Houston covered in 1992, will be a big number in Tuesday's Glee, with Amber Riley's Mercedes set to perform it as she struggles to decide between Sam (Chord Overstreet) and Shane (LaMarcus Tinker).
A spokesman for 20th Television, the studio behind Glee, told The Hollywood Reporter on Saturday that the Valentine's Day-themed episode, titled "Heart," had been finished and delivered to the network on Friday, with Glee producers currently considering going back into the episode to pay tribute to Houston, who died Saturday.

DIONNE WARWICK AND CISSY HOUSTON Whitney Seemed Fine Just Before Death
Dionne Warwick and Cissy Houston spoke with Whitney Houston by phone just before she died and say Whitney seemed fine ... TMZ has learned.
Whitney's mother, Cissy Houston, spoke with her daughter 25-30 minutes before she died and nothing seemed unusual ... sources tell TMZ. We're told they talked about attending the Clive Davis pre-Grammy party.
Dionne Warwick, Whitney's cousin, called as well ... several hours before Whitney died ... to make sure they were sitting at the same table at Clive's party. And again ... there were no signs of trouble.
The people in touch with Dionne say she is inconsolable adding, "She is an absolute mess."
As for Cissy, we're told she is "hysterical."

It's not at all, most women live till 85 now, 37 more years !!! For average women who live average lives, yes. Drugs and alcohol tend to tip the scales a bit Thanks for letting us all know that drugs are bad and that it tends to shorten the life of those who are addicted to it/them, coz we didn't know. I was just stating the fact that in western civilisations, 48 yo is not old at all for a woman in our time, so dying at that age can be considered dying at a "young" age, wether you're a drug addict or not...

I listened to "I Look to You" and it gave me chills. It's amazing how the words seem more eerie in this new context.

is there a possibility of cancelling the Grammy's until next weekend to prepare a suitable tribute? 2 hours ago before it was officially announced rumors were swirling that Clive Davis was canceling his party and insisting Grammys be canceled. Then it broke she died shortly after and then like 30 mins ago it was officially announced His party was canceled. I guess now they are saying they might pre-tape performances tomorrow night for the Grammys and air them later this month with live performances at another date ???

Besides her family, I can't even imagine what Brandy is going through. As we all know Whitney was her ultimate idol and today just so happens to be her birthday.

They are probably going to do an extended montage of various musicians that have passed like they do every year.

I thought of Brandy as well. She must be absolutely devastated by this, they were just together at rehearsals for Clive's party a few days ago.

CNN confirmed there will be a tribute performance at the Grammys and Jennifer Hudson is already confirmed. This seems kind of sudden and tacky to be calling people up to do a tribute only a couple of hours after she died.

Or did he have some sort of premonition that something was about to happen? Just wondering.

Whitney won tons of Grammys....

She delivered a rather good one of it at the BET Honors a few years back. www.youtube.com/watch?v=l2d-Thb9mPg&feature=related

I'm sure everything is a complete mess right now.

So sad. May she RIP. They can't cancel the Grammy's though. Whitney wouldn't want that, I don't think. A lot of people worked very hard to be honored tomorrow night and they still deserve their moment in the spotlight. I think they will put together a little tribute, whether it is some singing or just a video montage or even just a speech.

From Whitney herself..."Hell to the No." The grammmys are not meant to be a tribute to someone but to the music in general, so we should just hope they at least pay a tribute of some sort with a few words.

Whitney's got 9 songs in the Top 200 of iTunes now. "I Will Always Love You" is actually there twice.
Some of her biggest hits still haven't appeared. I'm surprised to see "One Moment In Time" before "I'm Your Baby Tonight," "Exhale," or any of the My Love Is Your Love singles.

The Grammies will be the must see event of the weekend. I think the tribute will be at the beginning like Aretha's tribute last year.
