Sparkle is going to be a HUGE event. Strange how Aaliyah was attached as well.

Pics like that have been coming out for years. She has not been right for a long time. May she finally rest. I never really thought she fully recovered. They tried to market her as being clean with the I Look To You album but it was obvious that wasn't really the case. It's just sad it had to end this way because in the past few years she at least started acting like she cared about getting better.

She was acting erratic and got into a scuffle with Stacy Francis, but spin control was done. Rumors were also circulating that Ray J kept her on drugs up constantly. I heard that asshole saw her as an easy mark.

"Million Dollar Bill" will remain one of the best comeback singles - I don't care if it wasn't a big hit, it was great and 10 years prior to 2009, it definitely would have smashed like the "MYIYL" singles.

They seemed so close that it's hard to imagine her going into public at all this soon, let alone singing in front of a big crowd of people. I guess everyone handles grief differently though.

This is devastating. One of the most talented and iconic singers of all-time. Her career and life has been legendary and she will go down as one of the greats, and sadly like so many of them, it has all ended far, far too early. I remember when she was younger and still had that spark and life to her that was magnetic and beautiful. It was sad to see that fade as she got involved with the wrong people and scene and even sadder to see her seemingly pull herself together only to die so tragically early. The fact that it happened the night before the Grammys is so... odd. I can't quite put it into words but it will be one of those legendary deaths and the timing will only amplify it.
RIP Whitney. Listening to her sing with a tear in my eye tonight.

If it were up to me, any Grammy tribute would be relatively simple. I like the idea of Dolly Parton performing "I Will Always Love You" and that's it. I don't want a bunch of artists, a medley and people who really don't have much of a connection other than being inspired by her, but with Jennifer Hudson being booked, I'm sure that's what they're doing.

I've been hearing from some L.A. friends for years that Ray J slings drugs. That's allegedly how he can afford his lifestyle.

It was tough for me when Michael passed........then the knife turned with Amy, then it got pushed in further with Etta, and now it seems like the knife was taken out and then reinserted again somewhere in my body. It's all too much sometimes.

It's sad to see artists like Toni Braxton and Kelly Rowland reflecting on Whitney's death on the red carpet. Toni got a little choked up.

MTV switched over from regular programming to show her videos with a ticker featuring tweets from celebs. FINALLY. I was waiting for VH1, MTV, or VH1 Classic to show her some love. Still shocked those other two channels haven't yet.

I truly cannot imagine a soul in North America whose heart isn't breaking. ^I made the topic of her death on a video game forum I go to. And while there are a lot of people who don't listen to mainstream music and such (like every now and then someone won't know who like Nicki Minaj is, but that's understandable), someone said "mfw I don't even know who that is" with some dumb happy face. I think he thought it was some random pop singer. Literally everyone tore him apart, including people who normally are uneducated about pop culture stuff.

Heartbroken and at a loss for words upon learning of Whitney Houston's passing. You will be missed. My deepest condolences to Whitney's family and loved ones. Please cherish life and those around you. Tomorrow is never promised.

TV Guide had story today on rumors that WH was going to be X-Factor star and what people thought about it. How bizarre? I saw the story on the Denver Post and they have a big separate story on Greatest National Anthem performance ever at SB. IHN still gives me chills. Poor WH, a God-given gift - it is such a shame that we have so few songs from her. (If you think about the type of output that she SHOULD have had over 25 years.) Just terrible.

s**t! Only 48 years old and gone... I was still hoping for some time of recovery after the (sorry) disaster of her last album performances with inability for her to sing her classics :'( drugs killed her voice and her talent went to waste. Still, she will always be remembered as one of the BEST singers ever and one of the BEST pop stars of a generation. Many hits turned into classics thanks to her voice (e.g. Dolly Parton's, George Benson's, Chaka Khan's) and many pure 80s pop classics, plus a revamped career with My Love Is Your Love. Enough of a stellar career. RIP Whitney!! And, on a personal note, this is my last FB status This might not be her most famous or best song, but it lifted my spirit many times when I was down back in 2000-01. Listening to her singing "Don't give up, you've got to hold on to what you've got You've got to keep on moving, don't stop! I know you're hurting but don't let the bad things get to you" was powerful. Thanks Whitney! EDIT: Speaking of regained popularity: "I Will Always Love You" is already #6 and #64 on iTunes ! EDIT2: That was so 10 minutes ago, now it is #5 and #61
