Released in late 1978 from her self-titled debut album. Hit #1 R&B, #12 Pop. Cheryl co-wrote this along with David Foster and David Paich of the band Toto. Paich also played keyboards on this song, while Ray Parker Jr. was the guitarist. Great, great song.

This and Alton McClain & Destiny's "It Must Be Love" were both hits about a year apart and clearly inspired by The Emotions' "Best Of My Love". Great song. My favorite Cheryl Lynn song, but she had some other great hits too.

Did Patti LaBelle ever record a cover of this in studio? No. She only did the live cover with Mariah.

Did Patti LaBelle ever record a cover of this in studio? No. She only did the live cover with Mariah. That live version was an abyssmal moment for Mariah, who literally sounded like she was sick with a cold or something and fought her way through it. I try to skip it whenever I play the Patti Live album. In 1996 Jordan Hill covered this, with David Foster producing. She did a really slammin' job.

After hearing that version, I was shocked that Mariah signed off on it for the CD recording. I mean, to preserve that performance seemed like a mistake. And the funny thing, was that Patti, after just singing circles around Mariah, praises the heck out of her, and Mariah sounded completely winded. My least favorite Mariah moment next to her 9/11 Hero performance. Cheryl Lynn's version is still fresh today.

One of the best disco songs of all-time and I often heard it alot. In my market, I heard this as an old school cut on WGCI, V103, B96, Lite FM 93.9, 100.3, and 103.5 during their Jammin Oldies phase. This is one 70s disco song I never grow tired of.
