Updated list:
-Sail moved to a proper point of mention. It re-entered for natural reasons in 2012 and was within the scope of eligibility (songs within around 3 years of launch with active radio push are eligible), and the re-entry in 2013 was natural for fulfilling the other status of eligibility (new peak and/or multiple weeks of gaining metrics, in this case the former) as demonstrated by other songs not on the list. (e.g. Drinking Class, Really Really)
-Straight Outta Compton & Boyz in the Hood had second weeks that are now listed (though I think Billboard fell asleep on that one since they're both below in the top 50 and would've been in the top 100 for a third week if they weren't acted on).
-Obviously the new stuff is appended.

I put Sail on the list because it had an 'unnatural' Re-entry, not a natural one. The 2013 re-entry was after a 20 week chart run.

In any case, I originally created this list track the effects of the "whitney Rule" which Sail was not part of it but was added because it did re-enter

I investigated further and Sail actually was a natural re-entry. It satisfied the following requirements:

-It was receiving active promotion from radio. (Equivalent Not on the List: Come With Me Now, released in 2011, promoted in 2014)
-It was consistently gaining points (I think; it set a Pacesetter a few weeks later and it was bulleting consistently for a month upon re-entry). (Equivalent Not on the List: Songs below, they usually overlap, though there's some case I'm forgetting where only this condition was met)
-It had hit a new peak (#63) on that week. (Equivalent Not on the List: Drinking Class, Really Really)

How about Madness by Muse? It had a 25-week run with a #56 peak. Dropped out for 4 weeks and re-entered at #53 for 4 weeks reaching a #45 peak after re-entering.

I had Sail on the original list.

The thing is, if Sail counts (which re-entered thanks to a radio push), then so does Come With Me Now / KONGAS (released 2011, began charting thanks to radio in 2014), Walking on a Dream / Empire of the Sun (released 2008, began charting thanks to radio/sales in 2016), and Can't Hold Us / Macklemore & Ryan Lewis feat. Ray Dalton (released 2011, began charting thanks to streaming/radio in 2013) since recurrent entries are listed. However, since all three of them had a definitive promotional push to radio, they all don't count.

The thing is, if Sail counts (which re-entered thanks to a radio push), then so does Come With Me Now / KONGAS (released 2011, began charting thanks to radio in 2014), Walking on a Dream / Empire of the Sun (released 2008, began charting thanks to radio/sales in 2016), and Can't Hold Us / Macklemore & Ryan Lewis feat. Ray Dalton (released 2011, began charting thanks to streaming/radio in 2013) since recurrent entries are listed. However, since all three of them had a definitive promotional push to radio, they all don't count.

I started this thread (I am 2m btw)  to highlight songs that had two DISTINCT chart runs, inspired of course by the rule change from Whitney Houston's death


Sail had two distinct chart runs

in 2011, leading into early 2012,  the song spent 20 weeks on the chart peaking at #82 (chart run over - it did its 20 weeks)

Then it spent another 35 weeks after that on the Hot 100 recurrent chart prior to re-entering again in 2013 for chart run #2

The other songs you mentioned did not have two distinct chart runs

What about Bohemian Rhapsody then? It had a chart run in 1975-76 of 24 weeks, then had a 17 week run in 1992, after the recurrent rule was added.

The Fighter went recurrent and then re-entered at #47 three weeks later midway through 2017. Would that count as well?

No - needs to be uniquely separate chart runs for this list - Something other than random fluctuation of radio or streaming to cause a re-entry . (Can be a re-release, death or something else). In the case of Travis Scott, Butterfly effect had a 20 week run last year - went recurrent and disappeared. Placement on Astroworld cause a re-entry


Songs in the same chart run can bounce out of the top 50 and then reenter if they are gaining suddenly in multiple metrics and enough points to be in the top 50 (or in the case of year old songs - the top 25)


This has happened with other songs too (Uptown Funk did it- for example)
