Yes indeed, looks like the blindfolded monkeys are once again working on the charts, as several songs show erratic movement. For one thing, all four debuts from last week move down (one even drops OFF the chart!). Plus, Todd Agnew's new song, only on for three weeks, is back down to #20 from #15.
Conversely, there are songs that have been out for quite awhile that are moving back up the chart. "Indescribable" by Chris Tomlin and "Presence" by the Newsboys both move up a spot, to #3 and #4, respectively as Steven Curtis Chapman's "Much Of You", which moved 8-3 last week, drops to #5. "Heaven" by Salvador, continues to make like a yo-yo. After moving down for a few weeks, the song rebounds 11-8. Even the week's biggest mover is one of the rebounds. After taking quite a dive last week, Monk & Neagle recover nicely, moving 16-12. And, to the chagrin of our good buddy Jeffster, "I Choose You" by Point Of Grace moves back up three to number sixteen.
I tell you, these past few weeks, the CRW weekly chart has been at its weirdest, even more so than late winter/early spring, 2004. Even back then, there weren't tons of songs moving up and down, up and down like there are now. I'm seriously wondering if the blindfolded monkey theory that Jeffster came up with about this time last year is true. The only other logical explanation I can come up with is a varying panel of reporting stations each week.
