Well, since there was a Third Day special this week, which took the place of this chart, there is no Artist Spotlight (well, besides the obvious) and no Jon's Future Favorite, or Newsboys Past & Present (but that's OK, since we always get an old song by the Newsboys that we've only heard about umpteen times, plus an album track that we'll probably never hear again on radio).
"Friend Of God" by Phillips Craig & Dean is just now debuting? I've been hearing it on radio for the past few months, or so it seems. Their old song drops out of the countdown after 30 weeks. I never got tired of that song, so I'm going to sort of miss it.
In the "Song That Won't Die" category, we have "Heaven" by Salvador. Now, that is not the oldest song on the survey (that honor goes to Casting Crowns' monster smash "Voice Of Truth"), but in a way, it is the oldest song, because those of us who have been listening to both mainstream AC and Christian AC (along with CHR/Pop), we've been hearing it for about a year now. Enough is enough! Let that be the next song to leave the survey.
OK, enough of my rant, let's focus on the good stuff. "Hide" by Joy Williams breaks into the Top Ten this week and it's a song that I have yet to hear. As we know all too well, we heard a Third Day countdown this past week, plus last week, my station didn't get the new show and aired the previous week's show instead. Hopefully, Pulse FM will have a fresh new show next weekend.
Also hitting the Top Ten is one of my favorite songs this week, "In Christ Alone" by Brian Littrell. It also makes the biggest move of the week, shooting ahead five spots to number ten.
And Jeremy Camp is at number one again this weeks. That would make it about six weeks, right? This could wind up being the number one song of 2005, but it's way too early to make any kind of predictions for that.
