And we have you here to shove it down our throats. It's not shoving it down your throats. I've posted 1 article about it and that reply shown above. I'm sure if the results were different and Madonna's "promotion" had not helped her very much, I'm sure you (and others here) would be posting far more than 1 article and 1 reply. You would likely be boasting throughout dozens of posts about Madonna's sales numbers - just like Madonna fans were endlessly boasting about her debut week numbers last week. (HITS thread / Billboard thread)This is the General Music News section where a Charts/Sales discussion is taking place. Once again, this is not the Madonna Fan Club page. Back on topic... The Billboard numbers haven't leaked yet. Weren't they out around this time last week?

So, to me the real test for Madonna is where she'll net out in comparison to sales of American Life and Hard Candy.

Someone mentioned it once that other sites confirmed what I saw at HuffPo about Madonnas record breaking flop #1 album.

One Direction has the potential to sell 1 million over time since they are the hot "teen/tween" act of the moment plus What Makes You Beautiful is doing well

Yasss @ Nicki. Those are pretty amazing numbers, especially considering no video for the 1st single. I'm really interested in her WW numbers; does anyone know how she's doing in other countries?
LMFAO is still selling decently without a current hit single too. "Sorry For Party Rocking" may be a hot flawp but it has hella view on YT.

Post all the articles you want! We gotta keep you busy somehow, may as well gloat about someone's failure <3 Oh wait, try not to cry about that retort! It's ok! Shhh, shhh. *fart*

www.rollingstone.com/music/news/report-madonnas-mdna-sets-record-for-biggest-sales-drop-20120410Report: Madonna's 'MDNA' Sets Record For Biggest Sales Drop First-week sales inflated by CDs bundled with concert tickets By Rolling Stone April 10, 2012 12:35 PM ET Madonna's 'MDNA' Madonna's new album MDNA is on track to set the record for the biggest second week sales drop in history, Forbes reports. According to Forbes' sources, sales of the album will drop by 88 percent, from 359,000 copies in its first week of release to around 46,000 in its second week in stores. The album's first-week sales figures were reportedly inflated by CDs that were bundled with the purchase of some concert tickets for her upcoming tour. According to the Hollywood Reporter, 185,000 copies of MDNA were sold as part of the ticket package deal, meaning that only 179,000 copies count as individual album sales. Without these ticket package sales, MDNA would have placed at Number 2 on the charts behind Lionel Richie's Tuskegee, which moved 199,000 copies in that week. The sales drop for MDNA can largely be attributed to a lack of chart traction for its two singles, "Give Me All Your Luvin'" and "Girl Gone Wild," and limited promotion by the singer. Though the singer performed at the Super Bowl halftime show, participated in a Q&A with Jimmy Fallon on Facebook and went on Twitter for a day, she has avoided major television appearances and live performances.

Wow, I am just overly happy about that RollingStone article and this one www.vintagevinylnews.com/2012/04/why-madonnas-mdna-should-not-have-been.htmlLike I have said in the previous thread, Billboard made a mistake of counting the albums that were given for Madonna's concert. She would not been number 1 last week, and its sale this week just reflects the fact that she did not really sell well the week before. Madonna and her team know this, as the first single flopped after a huge huge promotion and second single flopping, so they had to resort to this tactic to manipulate the chart. This would likely not go gold if it wasnt for the concert giveways as no single seem to be generating any buzz from the album. Poor Lionel, he was robbed

The amount of reported posts coming from this thread alone is fairly ridiculous. Please stop the baiting and personal attacks or this is getting locked.

I wish we could be looking into having the topic of Madonna off-limits on here for a specific period of time so things could finally move on.

26 13 KELLY CLARKSON 19/RCA 32,051 +117% STRONGER Alright Kelly for that increase! You better wurq gurl! :) What are her current album sales? I read in the KC thread that I think she's a little over 700k? She's been selling really consistently well, definitely her most consistent album since Breakaway! Wow at Madonna. Can't say I'm that surprised though, since the singles didn't do well. Who held the record before her?

The amount of reported posts coming from this thread alone is fairly ridiculous. Please stop the baiting and personal attacks or this is getting locked. No one is doing anything differently that any other superstar diva wouldn't get if they were in the same situation where they tried to game the charts to get a #1 album only to come back the next week and every publication is talking about the record drop. Madonna fans are trying to stop people from talking about the chart records that were broken this week by spamming the mods. I'm sure if the news that Madonna broke records was positive, Madonna fans would beat everyone over the head with that information. The fact that rolling stone, mtv and all of the major publications talked about Billboards reporting rules alone means it's noteworthy and should be discussed. Not so much about Madonna but about Billboards own methodology as it relates to the BB 200. Besides it'll only be talked about this week and people will move on.

MDNA has still sold a lot more than some other #1 albums but there you go. Media is what it is, they always find a negative angle if they want.
-- 6 OF MONSTERS & MEN UNIVERSAL REPUBLIC 55,058 -- MY HEAD IS AN ANIMAL I think this is the highest mark ever for an Icelandic act? Björk's personal best is #9 and Sigur Rós' #15.

That's not entirely accurate. There's no video for the first pop single yet, but there are already videos for "Stupid Hoe" and "Beez in the Trap." Two videos with a third on the way the week of album release is pretty standard these days, if not more than normal.

It must really sad when your highlight of the day is to come here and take glee in someone else's stumble. People have a lot of growing up to do.
Like I said, she is still Queen, no one can touch her, not in a long time. Spin it all you want.

Madonna stans always have a habit of rubbing ppl the wrong way with their scrappy numbers until they annoy u to death. I have to say she is a great businesswomen musically however madonna isnt very talented.Hiring the biggest producers or song writers is not a musical move rather a business move. She didnt sing a note at the superbowl

No, Madonna isn't talented at all. Never said this before (hehe), but she's just one of the most celebrated. important and revered acts- same for her music. The talentless bimbo, only a smart business woman and a knack for marketing. One article reported the album sold 379K in the first week, which was inaccurate right there (as it was 359K). Some of these outlet need to get the facts straight. Madonna- making news for the biggest sales debut of the year thus far (and her third-highest sales week since 1991) and the biggest second-week drop since 1991. Only the Queen. :'( Why hasn't the thread title changed to reflect this "Earth-shattering" news? Nicki Minaj who?

Again, if you can't talk about the chart stats without getting defensive or throwing out accusations that people "take glee" in talking about them, stop coming in here! I don't want to have to keep saying this. This isn't a FAN board it's a CHART board! We talk about CHARTS and CHART STATS! Anyone who can't deal with that after this post gets an immediate (and official) warning, whether you've already got one from this topic or not.

So Madonna sold 174k? Redemptions counted for 185k? Is that correct?
Lionel and company did 199k.
Madonna would have needed to sell 26k more to come out ahead of Lionel. So people think out of the 185k who spent all that money on concert tickets, if the bundle hadn't been available, 14% of those fans wouldn't have went to the store or downloaded the album? Come on people.

Who's gonna say not to something that's free? I imagine there were plenty of ticket holders who didn't redeem. Are there stats for that?
