I heard this song on the recent April 8, 1978 AT40: The 70's broadcast. Do you remember Dolly Parton's 1978 Top 40 pop crossover hit "Two Doors Down"? I think this Dolly Parton song may be underlooked or something like that for Dolly Parton fans.

Perfectly good song. I wouldn't say this one is particularly forgotten in Parton's catalogue. The only thing I would say that puts it at odds with some of her other big hits is that it is not, as you say, a crossover record: it was designed to be a pop hit. In fact, Parton (and her people) did not market this song to country radio. She released this as part of a double a-side, of sorts. "Two Doors Down" was sent to Pop and AC and those markets, while its flip side, "It's All Wrong, but It's All Right" was sent to Country. It worked well; "All Wrong" topped the country chart and "Two Doors Down" was a considerable pop hit.
Part of this has to do with the fact that Zella Lehr had also cut "Two Doors Down" and already had a top-ten country hit (that did not cross over to other formats) with "Two Doors Down" by the time Parton was ready to release it as a single herself.
