I find it very strange that Carrie has yet to be nominated for "Best Country Album". I hope her releasing later during the eligibility period helps her get the nomination this year because BA definitely deserves it.

The end of this month is the end of the eligibility period for 2013's show, so most of what could/should be nominated has already made the greatest of its impact, it seems. Some of my final predictions (general, Pop, and Country)... Album of the YearChannel Orange, Frank Ocean Making Mirrors, Gotye Some Nights, fun. The Idler Wheel..., Fiona Apple Chief, Eric Church or Take Care, Drake Song of the YearSomebody That I Used to Know, Gotye feat. Kimbra We Are Young, fun. feat. Janelle Monae Call Me Maybe, Carly Rae Jepsen Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You), Kelly Clarkson Blown Away, Carrie Underwood or Take Care, Drake feat. Rihanna Record of the YearSet Fire to the Rain, Adele We Are Young, fun. feat. Janelle Monae Somebody That I Used to Know, Gotye feat. Kimbra Springsteen, Eric Church We Found Love, Rihanna feat. Calvin Harris **If WFL doesn't qualify since it was released Sept. 22, 2011, 8 days outside of the start of the eligibility period (I think they will allow it because it's the same situation as Bruno Mars' Grenade last year, but they didn't allow Train's Hey, Soul Sister the same treatment as Mars last year, so you never know), then replace WFL with Wide Awake, Katy Perry Best New ArtistCarly Rae Jepsen One Direction Frank Ocean Gotye fun. Pop Vocal AlbumStronger, Kelly Clarkson Talk That Talk, Rihanna Some Nights, fun. I think the last 2 will go to any of the following four: Live at the Royal Albert Hall, Adele; Ceremonials, Florence + the Machine; California 37, Train; or Believe, Justin Bieber Pop Solo Vocal PerformanceStronger (What Doesn't Kill You), Kelly Clarkson Where Have You Been, Rihanna Wide Awake, Katy Perry It Will Rain, Bruno Mars Boyfriend, Justin Bieber Pop Duo/Group PerformanceSomebody That I Used to Know, Gotye feat. Kimbra We Are Young, fun. feat. Janelle Monae Payphone, Maroon 5 feat. Wiz Khalifa What Makes You Beautiful, One Direction Drive By, Train or Glad You Came, The Wanted Country AlbumChief, Eric Church Tailgates & Tanlines, Luke Bryan Four the Record, Miranda Lambert Blown Away, Carrie Underwood Welcome to the Fishbowl, Kenny Chesney Country SongSpringsteen, Erich Church Pontoon, Little Big Town Over You, Miranda Lambert Blown Away, Carrie Underwood Safe & Sound, Taylor Swift feat. The Civil Wars Country Solo Vocal PerformanceBlown Away, Carrie Underwood Springsteen, Eric Church Drunk On You, Luke Bryan Come Over, Kenny Chesney Over You, Miranda Lambert Country Duo/Group Vocal PerformancePontoon, Little Big Town Safe and Sound, Taylor Swift feat. The Civil Wars Roll Me Up and Smoke Me When I Die, Willie Nelson feat. Snoop Dogg, Jamey Johnson, and Kris Kristofferson Even if it Breaks Your Heart, Eli Young Band Postcard From Paris, The Band Perry nice try. i have just few things to say: 1. Chief by E. Church & Tailgates & Tanlines by L. Bryan are ineligible this year as the former was nominated last year for Country Album & T&T was released during previous eligibility period. 2. Take Care is ineligible for SotY as it samples another record. 3. Set Fire To The Rain is ineligible for General Field as long as you don't mean the live version... 4. i have a hard time seeing Underwood & Chesney's albums getting this Country Album nominations as the country field do not treat they as real country artists... Oops, completely spaced that Eric & Luke both released for last year's eligibility period. SFTTR is eligible for Record, not Song. And what at Carrie & Kenny? If the field didn't treat them as real artists, then Carrie wouldn't have already won 4 Country-oriented Grammys, and she wouldn't have been the second Country artist to have ever won the Grammy for Best New Artist. I find it very strange that Carrie has yet to be nominated for "Best Country Album". I hope her releasing later during the eligibility period helps her get the nomination this year because BA definitely deserves it. I hope she finally gets it. Not sure about a win, but a nomination, at the very least, is far since overdue for her.

I'm pulling for El Camino to win Album of the Year. It seems to have a good shot and it's such an incredible album...best rock album in years for me.

and she wouldn't have been the second Country artist to have ever won the Grammy for Best New Artist. Shelby Lynne and LeAnn Rimes both won the award before Carrie (although in Shelby's case, her win was ridiculous as she was NOT a new artist by then).

It is a really good album. "Little Black Submarines" should be nominated for Song of the Year, but I don't see that one happening.

Lol, what? Underwood and Chesney are not considered real Country artists? That must be why Carrie Underwood has five Grammys to her name, four of which in Country categories. Carrie is a Grammy darling. As long as she has music out, her chances of being nominated are great. I think Carrie could fare very well this year at the Grammys. i mean by Grammy terms... Chesney have sth like only 3 Grammy nominations, while Underwood never got Country Album nom. they are country sellers.

Carrie has four Country Grammy wins, and many more nominations. She doesn't have any for her albums, but that doesn't mean she's not 'Country' in "Grammy terms"...

Jason Mraz should be in the discussion as well, I Won't Give Up well-received and has amazing longevity on the charts so far so he has a strong shot on Pop Vocal Performance and Album and nods for ROTY, SOTY and AOTY is not out of the question as well

IWGU has been a great radio hit on AC, HAC, and Adult Pop, but I don't think it'll have much of a chance at ROTY and SOTY. Pop Vocal, possibly. And I don't think he stands any form of chance at an AOTY nomination, personally. One decent-sized hit from an album that probably doesn't even have 400k sold doesn't seem like much of a grand contender for an AOTY nomination.

Since Contemporary R&B Album has returned I expect Usher has that in the bag. But when it comes to R&B Album it's up in the air.

Pink. In every category imaginable. It should be one of the best albums of 2012. The tough part for P!nk's case is that, by the time the album is released, there will be less than 2 weeks left before the eligibility period closes. It won't be able to make enough of an impact to score a nomination in very many categories. If anything, Blow Me (One Last Kiss) could receive a nod for Best Solo Pop Vocal Performance.

Question can a song that was submitted into a category but failed to garner a nomination get nominated in another category another year? I'm pretty sure Bey and her camp submitted "LOT" to Best Traditional R&B Performance, but can she submit it this year to R&B Performance? Hell if it wasn't for the snub last year, I'd say just to submit some live recordings, but after last year I'm not sure it would work </3.
Or maybe DFY could score a nod :)

Any Frank Ocean predictions? Best New Artist, Album of the Year, maybe a Song of the Year nod, and a lot of success in the Rap field.

^I'm expecting at least Pop Vocal Duo/Group and Pop Album nominations. Wouldn't be shocked at some general field nominations for them.
If Mumford's album does as well as expected this week, I think it's the AOTY frontrunner.

If Mumford's album does as well as expected this week, I think it's the AOTY frontrunner. You've also got Frank Ocean and Fiona Apple that could easily be neck-and-neck (...-and neck ![](http://yoursmiles.org/ssmile/fun/s0244.gif) ) for AOTY, too. As for M5, I absolutely expect Pop Vocal Duo/Group/Collabo nods for "Payphone", but a Pop Vocal Album nod for "Overexposed"? Eh, maybe. I'm not all that confident on that one, nor am I expecting any general field nods. There's been too many other notorious hits other than "Payphone" to receive the slots, but who knows. The Grammys have done this whole "you can perform at the nominations concert! ...but you only get one nomination" kind of thing before with Train a couple of years ago. They had them perform at the concert, but the only nod they received was for "Hey Soul Sister (Live)" for Pop Duo/Group Vocal Performance, which they later won. It's not like they wouldn't pull the same card again.

Not sure about Fiona - I loved her album and I could see her getting a Pop Album/Alt Album nomination but she's never recieved general attention before for outstanding work. Could happen but I'm not banking on it. I think Mumford, Frank, Drake & The Black Keys are at the top of the list for AOTY. If theres a pop slot, Bieber, Pink, Nicki and Maroon 5 are the contenders, IMO. As far as M5, I think OMN's success will give the album some juice in Best Pop Album - this has been a huge year for them so I can see them getting rewarded. They also have a good history - wasn't their second album nominated? SAJ would've been if eligible during their breakthrough.

So the cut off date is today. I'm most curious about the album nominations. I hope both Mylo Xyloto and Ceremonials get them nods.

I don't think Babel has the critical reception needed to win AOTY. I don't think Fiona has the sales or immense veteran respect to win AOTY.
Black Keys seem a better indie bet; they've been around awhile now vs. Mumford, they had good (if not incredible) sales, and they had great reviews. Drake's genre hurts him, but his reviews were quite strong (much better than Mumford) and he's had great sales. Frank Ocean had the best reviews of the Grammy year. But he's new and they might feel like New Artist and R&B awards could be enough for him. His sales are decent, and thanks to the VMAs he has a T40 hit. None of these albums has everything going for them the way 21 did, and although they all basically co-write all their songs they refrain from the solo writes that helped Fearless become such a frontrunner, but any of them winning wouldn't surprise me.

Yeah if Bruno Mars released Doo Woops a week earlier, he could have won Best New Artist easily
