This song got zero Top 40 adds this week. This song is done, both on Top 40 and HAC. The question is, will RCA support a third single after the disaster that were the first two, or are they done with the era?

RCA bungled it from day one by picking a boring song like BTIKM. And NCOE isn't that much better. I think they should focus single #3 on the clubs and forget about going for an HAC hit.

I can't imagine he wouldn't get a third single but let's get real I don't think they will be spending much marketing dollars on it. I'm not entirely sure why this single didn't do better it sounds like it could be a hit on the radio but maybe it's too manufactured and just not strong enough. I personally didn't like it much more than his first single.

Doesn't seem like this will take flight. It's a shame that RCA picked the least radio friendly tunes as the lead singles. The album is really good and he needed a Radio hit this era.

When I think about Adam's career, there's so much that could've been... ![:-/](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/undecided.png)

RCA is so not done with Adam. Cuckoo is going to be a worldwide smash, the first two singles will be footnotes. Once he goes on tour, it's all going to come together.

There's no guarantee that RCA will even release Cuckoo as a single. And whatever the 3rd single is, chances are it will get less of a promo push than the first 2 singles have received. And hasn't Adam said that he isn't going on tour until at least this fall, and maybe not until early 2013?

There's a banner ad for NCOE on All-Access. Seems to be targeting both HAC & CHR, while mentioning Bruno Mars & Dr. Luke's contributions to the song.

If this wasn't able to become a hit, I doubt anything else on the album would. SUCH a shame. :(

I didn't like this song but I'm still surprised it didn't work out ![:-/](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/undecided.png) and honestly, bummed because there are other songs on the album that I do like/love that probably won't see the light of day now. IDK what RCA was thinking.

At least his cd is still in the Top 70 in it's 5th wk on the The Billboard Top 200. It dropped from 54 to 68 but there were a Ton of New releases. Considering the lack of airplay at least it's still charting.

RCA is stupid. This entire thing could've been avoided if they'd just released 'Sleepwalker' as the last single from FYE. It would've gave Adam another hit to establish himself at radio. Plus he waited too long to release his second album. You have to strike while the iron is hot with these idols.
UGH!

Hoping he breaks in the UK and comes back around. RCA pushed him to put out the two weakest tracks on the album (although they aren't very good at picking lead off singles for anyone lately-period). It's a shame cause the album is good. Glad he has international sales to help and the Queen shows coming up.

I really don't think we can blame this on the song. NCOE is uptempo, insanely catchy with a strong hook, produced by Dr. Luke and written by Bruno Mars. It has every element of what should be a CHR/Pop smash in 2012.
The problem seems to be the negative view radio has of Adam. I won't go into exactly why I believe that's the case (it's been debated ad nauseum), but the unwillingness of many markets to spin his singles is having a serious effect on his career success.

It makes no sense that "Never Close Our Eyes" has flopped so egregiously. And I honestly don't know what everyone hears in "Cuckoo." I think it's a fun album track, but if this couldn't get radio play, I don't see how that song would. I'd love to be proved wrong though.

Not everyone thinks that the song is catchy, and it's all down to numbers, whether a large enough proportion of a radio format audience does or not. If NCOE wasn't played because of the negative view of Adam, it would have been a hit internationally, but it is not, far from it.

Didn't Adam have radio support during the FYE era? what happened that created a negative view of him afterwards?

Didn't Adam have radio support during the FYE era? what happened that created a negative view of him afterwards? He had massive promo after idol, and fye sold well. Even then he had great radio support only for wwfm. iihy didn't get the same response. There were no other singles, and he waited 2.5 yrs between albums. His label tried to start the new era with btikm and almost no promotion. Trespassing in turn had little promo and no single, and has not sold well. None of that is helping ncoe.
