First single sounds like Savage Garden at the begining... I could not tell it was LP.

I love the single. They've definitely been a band who doesn't stay in the past. Their sound is always evolving.

I never got into any of the singles from their last album, but I like this one.

I never liked this type of song that Linkin Park makes. But I stayed addicted to Burn It Down the first time I listened to it.

Album is amazing. Best effort since Meteora and this is coming from someone who loved their previous two albums.

Really loving 'Lost in the Echo' and 'In My Remains'.
I wish 'Tinfoil' was a full song.

^I picture Tinfoil as an extension/prelude of Powerless personally; so that essentially is one full song just split trackwise. Powerless is their best album closer with exception of Numb. Honestly I'd love to see most of these songs become singles. Lost In The Echo, In My Remains, I'll Be Gone, Castle Of Glass, Roads Untraveled, Powerless are all very radio-accessible and I wouldn't be surprised to see any of them have crossover success on CHR/Pop. -------------- Weak track. Although I expected it to be weak when I was looking through the track listing anyway. 1. "Lost in the Echo" 3:25 Expecting it to be a strong track. 2. "In My Remains" 3:20 Probably a standard track. 3. "Burn It Down" 3:50 I expected something meh, was pleasantly surprised. 4. "Lies Greed Misery" 2:26 Expected a weak track, and it is! 5. "I'll Be Gone" 3:31 Expecting it to be a highlight. 6. "Castle of Glass" 3:25 Expecting this to be good. 7. "Victimized" 1:46 Expecting this to be a standard interlude. 8. "Roads Untraveled" 3:49 Expecting to be a standard track. 9. "Skin to Bone" 2:48 Expecting to be a weak track. 10. "Until it Breaks" 3:43 Expecting to be a good track. 11. "Tinfoil" 1:11 Expecting this to be a stronger interlude. 12. "Powerless" 3:44 Expecting to be a solid track. Let's see how my expectations held up! 1. "Lost in the Echo" 3:25 Very strong track, expectations met. 2. "In My Remains" 3:20 Very strong track, expectations exceeded. 3. "Burn It Down" 3:50 Strong track, expectations exceeded. 4. "Lies Greed Misery" 2:26 Weak track, expectations met. 5. "I'll Be Gone" 3:31 Very strong track, expectations met. 6. "Castle of Glass" 3:25 Very strong track, expectations exceeded. 7. "Victimized" 1:46 Great interlude, expectations exceeded. 8. "Roads Untraveled" 3:49 Strong track, expectations met. 9. "Skin to Bone" 2:48 Good track, expectations exceeded. 10. "Until it Breaks" 3:43 Good track, expectations met. 11. "Tinfoil" 1:11 Great interlude, expectations met. 12. "Powerless" 3:44 Very strong track, expectations exceeded. Overall my expectations were exceeded. This is a very strong album. There is a lot of innovation musically and their direction is very progressive. Their musical style remains distinct without falling back on chasing their past hits like many other bands get trapped in the habit of. In addition I was pleased that their was some lyrical progression with this album as well. Lyrics have always been Linkin Park's weakest ability, and tracks like Lies Greed Misery, Burn It Down, Skin To Bone, and Until It Breaks still show that. However other tracks, while still suffering from the same pitfall, show a clear attempt and success at remedying this issue. Lost In The Echo and Castle Of Glass are good examples of this.

This album is one of my favorite albums of the year! Great to see some new music by them. Always my favorite band. In my opinion, Living Things is probably one of their most strongest material they ever put out. LOVE the new progression and sound they have as a band.
Hopefully this album sees critical acclaim and success with singles and sales! A Thousand Suns was kinda underwhelming by that.
I would like 'Lost In The Echo' to be a single, could be a huge song on CHR/Pop.

About halfway through the album, not bad at all. Much better than their last, but I don't think it touches Hybrid or Meteroa at all. MAYBE beats Minutes, but I need to finish the album first.

Alright, after having a good amount of time of exposure to this album, here's my ordering from favourite to least favourite:
Castle Of Glass, I'll Be Gone, Lost In The Echo, Tinfoil/Powerless, In My Remains, Roads Untraveled, Burn It Down, Lies Greed Misery, Until It Breaks, Skin To Bone, Victimized
To be fair, it's really just the last two that I don't care for, and everything else is really meshing well with me. Even Lies Greed Misery which I didn't like initially I'm really digging right now.
1) Burn It Down 2) Lost In The Echo 3) I'll Be Gone 4) Castle Of Glass 5) In My Remains 6) Powerless
would be a wonderful single order. Tack on Roads Untraveled to the end if Alternative/Active radio will let them go that far.

Previewing the clips on iTunes right now.
Lost In the Echo - Really like the verses! In My Remains - I really like this one. Burn It Down - Quickly becoming one of my favorite LP songs ever. Lies Greed Misery - Meh. However, it's quirky enough to grow on me. I'll Be Gone - Decent. Castle of Glass - "Breaking the Habit" part 2? :o Victimized - Ew. Get that screamo-esque crap off of here. Roads Untraveled - Love the production on this! Skin to Bone - I think I could really get into this one! Until It Breaks - I kind of like it. Tinfoil - Why isn't this longer? I LOVE it! Powerless - Really like this one!
Wow! I'm very surprised how much I like this album! Might be the first LP album I have to purchase.

Even Lies Greed Misery which I didn't like initially I'm really digging right now. Yeah, okay. Lies Greed Misery is an absolute masterpiece. I'm really hoping this album can manage a #1 debut, but I know Maroon 5 will probably get it. And Au$tin, if that's your opinion on the initial listen, then I'd recommend purchasing it since it's honestly not too different than what mine was.

Based on the clips, I had to turn this down and I have supported all of their albums previously, especially the last few Rick Rubin productions. It pained me to do so because I actually really respect and admire this band but I can't buy everything. Oh well. Maybe next time.

Hybrid Theory will definitely move past 10mil, and Meteora will move past 6mil eventually. Minutes to Midnight will be stuck a 3x Platinum album and it will be hard for A Thousand Suns to ever hit 1mil. I hope Living Things can make it past 1mil.

Linkin Park's 2000 album Hybrid Theory this week becomes the 20th album to top the 10 million mark in U.S. sales since Nielsen SoundScan began tracking sales for Billboard in 1991. It's one of just seven albums that were released since Jan. 1, 2000 to have topped 10M. Eminem has two of them, which is more than anyone else: The Marshall Mathers LP (10,629,000) and The Eminem Show (10,098,000). The other four are The Beatles' 1 (12,083,000), *NSYNC's No Strings Attached (11,129,000), Norah Jones' Come Away With Me (10,859,000) and Usher's Confessions (10,017,000).

Just found this thread.
I had a really hard time getting into this album. Nothing stood out to me, it wasn't a different sound or anything. Aside from all the weird instrumental and non-song tracks, their last album was perfect: it was different and creative. I feel the same way about MTM.... I guess I'll have to give this another try, it has been a few weeks since I listened through it. I want to like it so bad.

^The concert I mentioned earlier in this thread was amazing. Linkin Park always does exceptionally well live.
Looking at my previous rankings, completely different now:
In My Remains, Lies Greed Misery, Castle Of Glass, Burn It Down, I'll Be Gone, Lost In The Echo, Tinfoil/Powerless, Roads Untraveled, Skin To Bone, Until It Breaks, Victimized
