Carole King released The Legendary Demos on April 24th. The album consists of the demo version she cut of 13 of her tracks. It's really interesting (for me, at least) to hear these versions of her songs, which are essentially the blueprints for how she wanted them to sound. She's had more of a presence than usually this year, releasing her autobiography A Natural Woman last month as well. Tracklisting: 1. Pleasant Valley Sunday 2. So Goes Love 3. Take Good Care Of My Baby 4. (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman 5. Like Little Children 6. Beautiful 7. Crying In The Rain 8. Way Over Yonder 9. Yours Until Tomorrow 10. It's Too Late 11. Tapestry 12. Just Once In My Life 13. You've Got A Friend It's sold over 11,000 so far after two weeks of release.

Great to see Tapestry get further certifications. Truly one of the best albums of all time.

On the shortlist for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Ridiculous she's not inducted already.

Inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. She was previously inducted as a songwriter with Gerry Goffin.

Didn't realize we had a thread about her going but glad we did! I'm thrilled for the RRHOF induction even if it's long overdue for her solo career. About time she joins the couple dozen men who've been inducted twice. She has said in various interviews she plans to attend the ceremony and perform. Given that she's 79 years old and basically retired from touring this could be one of the final times she performs live in her life. I'm going to try and go!

The RRHOF induction aired on HBO and I thought it came out well, as someone who was also in the arena. Taylor's performance came across better on TV, I thought, than in the arena. Her speech in honor of Carole was genuine and heartfelt. It was also nice to see Carole perform You've Got a Friend even if her voice is showing signs of age. The sincerity and warmth with which she sings, however, is as strong as ever.
Also, at 79, Carole is again a Grammy nominee for "Here I Am," the song she wrote with Jennifer Hudson for "Respect." They were nominated for Best Song for Visual Media. This would seem to bode well for the song's chances of being nominated for an Oscar, which is about the only accomplishment Carole has left to check off her impressive resume.

She's so talented. I'm so glad that I got to see her live when I did, because I doubt there will be many more opportunities going forward.
