is the only Billboard chart that the longtime dedicated chart-watchers will care to follow. www.billboard.com/charts/country-songs#/charts/country-airplay
Yes, but if its not official, it kinda takes the fun from chart watching. Sweet baby Jesus, I'm empathizing with Carrie fans.
Yeah, I agree, as will most chart-watchers. I can understand if Billboard wants a country version of the hot 100 – but country airplay should remain the main chart.

This sounds like a solution for a problem that doesn't exsist.

What's the point of having a Country chart anymore? As long as CHR airplay and sales are incorporated, Taylor Swift will always be at #1.
This is beyond repulsive. Blown Away won't be a certified Hot Country Songs #1, but We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together will?
Fuck Billboard. That's such shit.

This is a travesty. Plain and simple. Pretty much no one other than Taylor is going to have a #1 again. This new chart is total garbage. In fact I'm planning on ignoring it. Way to ruin country music billboard!

Their Country Airplay Chart and the Mediabase chart will be the only two charts which will be utilized in the ads you'll see in Country Aircheck, Billboard Country Update, and other industry publications.
Paraphrasing what joey2002 so accurately staed, the other two BB charts will be irrelevant to most of us.

I wonder if labels and such will start to recognize the airplay chart as the official one? Billboard can call it what they want, but the airplay one is the one they've always gone by. If it's still there, why not continue using it as the official chart?

I'm very upset about the new chart's timing especially because it's hurting BA. Being completely ignorant of how this business truly works, it seems to me this was manuiplated to hurt certain artists. I'm probably wrong but to someone like me who is just a fan ( a big Carrie fan) that's what it seems like.

If it's still there, why not continue using it as the official chart? I'm sure labels will continue to recognize the airplay chart, just as they currently recognize both Billboard and Mediabase. Now they'll have 3 charts on their hands...

Well, I can't do much to change billboard's policy, but I will post with quotes whenever I see a chart "fact" about a suppose number one song with a bunch of asterisks. This decision by billboard IMO, is like the new "music steroid" problem. It just smells funny. This was a solution looking for a problem.

Congratulation, BLOWN AWAY for being the most played country song in country radio (who only counts country spins) this week. It will be the most played country song in country radio for at least two weeks. yes, there's no more #1 hot country song, but MOST PLAYED COUNTRY SONG IN COUNTRY RADIO. ![](http://yoursmiles.org/ssmile/fun/s0244.gif)

Carrie will be #1 for multiple weeks on the radio countdown shows, because almost all of them use Mediabase.

The four major countdown shows all use Mediabase; Bob Kingsley, Kix Brooks, Lon Helton and Crook & Chase.

I'll settle for the #1 on country airplay, considering the new "Country Hot 100" means nothing to anyone but Scott Borchetta and Big Machine now. Congrats Carrie!

I like the idea behind the changes in this chart; however, I very firmly believe pop airplay should not count. I agree sales and streaming need to count, but counting pop airplay gives a ridiculous advantage to Taylor Swift. It looks rather suspicious, from my end, that Billboard waited until BA would've been No. 1 for them to implement this change.

It looks rather suspicious, from my end, that Billboard waited until BA would've been No. 1 for them to implement this change. Technically, the immediate effect of the change robbed Jason Aldean of a third and final week at No. 1 with TALR (and not BA's turn at the top), but it is definitely unfortunate that Blown Away will ultimately lose out though. Its nice that she'll still have that credit where its due on the airplay-only chart that still remains (albeit in lesser significance) and the Mediabase charts (which, as many have pointed out above, are what many radio listeners will understand to be the #1 song due to the syndicated programming).

But, what's bothersome is Billboard is still the most "respected" chart right? Perhaps eventually the new chart will benefit artists but right now it seems the next month is going to be dominated by Taylor and I'm assuming Jason Aldean. While I respect both artists, it doesn't seem fair to have a chart dominated by one or two artists and they should not include pop airplay on a country chart. I hope they modify the chart. That's the only way it will be fair to ALL artists.

I agree; no matter what "blocks" this from the top spot on the new official chart, this is another #1 country radio hit in my book (as well as MB) and that's all that matters. Maybe it'll get a second week since some of the future #1 contenders have quite a ways to go (Lee, Easton, Miranda, Luke, and Jake).

I take that as a sign that this whole Billboard change thing is a sensitive issue around Nashville now. Maybe they just didn't want to get into trouble since that tweet might be taken wrongly to imply that they are not happy with new chart either.

A simple congratulations to another artist for hitting #1 in airplay is not a big deal, IMO. The new chart wasn't mentioned - if people interpret it that way that's their issue.

But it wasn't about Billboard... (BB weeks don't end until Monday morning) It was a simple congrats about her #1 on Mediabase (MB week end Sunday morning) so I'm not sure why they would delete that.
