This "Soundscan Data" thread is all but dead. There is no discussion whatsoever about it and it has't seen a useful feedback or thought for ages now... In my opinion, frankly we don't need to keep this particular thread as a sticky subject making it appear on each and every page we open. Just relegate it into an ordinary thread and phase it out... If it is a mega important for the board, add a clear paragraph about the matter in "Pulse Music Board Rules & Guidelines" page as a separate policy item. That way it would have served its purpose. But as nobody is responding to this particular subject anymore, it is time to say "good riddance" to this Soundscan Data thread. First, welcome to Pulse Music Board, 1wxrld. Second, the BIGGEST reason this is on practically EVERY page here at Pulse is to remind people that Soundscan data is copyrighted information. That is like you quoting someone without giving proper credit. We did have an instance in the Country Forum a few months back about it until I caught it and it was corrected by two administrators: jhomes87 and Kurt. They did a fantastic job deleting the exact numbers and edited rounded off figures. This particular thread was NOT meant to have a hundred pages and a few billion posts. It is here for a reminder. As a member of Pulse for nearly six years, I care about this website and the posters here. I want this to continue for as long as possible. That will NOT happen if people decide to post things here without further regard to this website. I hope you do enjoy your stay here and will be looking forward to more of your posts!

A little history for those that don't know. A few years ago, when Soundscan data flowed freely, I used to compile summaries in the General Music News threads based on this data. A Soundscan lawyer saw this then sent a notice to Proboards with a cc to me, ordering cease and desist. This is how the policy came to be. Other websites doing the same thing were shut down, fortunately not the case here.
