This is unrelated to this week's specific chart, but I don't want to start a whole new thread for it: do we know yet what the exact formula is for Hot 100 rankings? I'm doing some research related to the streaming addition for one of my classes. :)
(Also: which week was the first chart to include streaming? A link to that specific thread would be excellent.)

I was just about to post that how can Cher Lloyd of all artists get better airplay than Kelly Clarkson following a number one. Because "Want U Back" is 100% ready for radio. "Dark Side" is roughly 35% ready for radio.

Cher fucking Lloyd (potentially) getting a hit in America only shows how stupid whoever it was decided Alexandra Burke should not try to cross over during her first album.

Savan Kotecha, who wrote the song, is constantly tweeting followers to request on a huge list of radio stations they have from the Cher Lloyd fanbase. Her Twitter followers are pretty well organised. The song didnt do that well in the UK but she has been showing the nicer side of her personality to the US media so far and I have heard worse songs.

^I'm sure you mean the song itself, but you should state so anyhow. :) And why feel so strongly about it? It's fine thing to be sick of a track, but we're not forced to listen to tracks we don't like (well, most of the time).

Most of the time? All the time - I think.
There is enough variety out there on standard and non standard radio that the listener can choose what they want. or for those of us who collect music (which is likely a lot of use here) you can listen to whatever is in your collection.

People know what I mean & if they don't, tough luck. I'm tired of hearing the songs on the radio 5-6x a day. TBH, there's not that much of a variety on radio. Every radio station I play, especially Pop radio, will play the same song at least 3x within a 3 hour period. I usually prefer to play my own playlists when I don't deal w/the radio.

If you do listen to the same song constantly throughout the day, that boils down to personal choice.
Obviously the reason a hit song is played 5-6 times a day on the radio is to get as many people as possible to hear it, since most do not tie themselves to the same station all day.

I can't stand that Cher Lloyd. That Swagger Jagger song was one of the worst I've ever heard. Her cover of Shakespears Sister's "Stay" (that she did and released a studio version of from X-Factor) is REALLY good. It's probably the only thing I like of hers, so maybe check it out.

There could be instances where a person is in the workplace and has no control over, say, what radio stations is kept on in the office. That could lead to hearing the same song over and over again, unless you stick earplugs or something else in your ears.

Anyway - a workplace radio station that is heard by multiple people may not play the songs being described in this thread. Those stations tend to be something lighter or oldies stations
