CHART MAKEOVER!
I have become increasingly dissatisfied with my chart. It's pretty behind on my tastes for the most part, and many songs are not getting the credit they should. Because of this, I felt compelled to pull a Billboard. Though hopefully my change is actually for the better. ;)
Some changes I've made:
-Chart make-over. Songs have been repositioned based on how I genuinely feel about them this week. Previous weeks, I would debut most songs lower and let them climb up to their peak, but that hasn't worked too well for the most part. Songs will debut fairly and chart as they should from now on.
-40 positions has now become 100. This will eliminate the recent Currents section, and the Recurrents feature has been updated. When a song has dropped below #50 and its run on most charts is over, it will either be purged or go recurrent. I will determine which songs deserve recurrency and which should only be purged on a song-to-song basis.
-There will be more incorporation of albums. Every week, I listen to some of the recently released albums, based on my taste, and any favorites will chart. Before, only a handful of album tracks have ever charted (including songs from One Direction, Demi Lovato and Justin Bieber, plus a few other standouts). The albums I've listened to will be noted each week.
-Since the chart is so large now, my usual write-up would have become extremely long. Instead, I will be providing a bullet-point summary of some of the more important facts this week (idea stolen from jback
)
Some of the stats will be a little messy for the next week or two due to the change, but that shouldn't be a problem for long. Hopefully this new chart works out! Any feedback on it will be greatly appreciated! Here it goes...
October 21, 2012-Justin Bieber's "As Long As You Love Me" is now tied with One Direction's "What Makes You Beautiful" for the second most weeks at #1 (5 weeks)
-Usher becomes the first artist to have two songs climb into the Top 10 on the same week with "Dive" and "Numb" at #9 and #10. These songs also make
Looking 4 Myself the first album with 5 Top 10 hits.
-Cher Lloyd scores her second Top 10 with "Oath" (#4). "Want U Back" peaked at #9.
-Rita Ora scores her first Top 10 with "R.I.P." (#6) after "How We Do (Party)" stalled at #11.
-Rihanna scores her fourth Top 10 with "Diamonds" at #8, following "We Found Love" (#7), "Talk That Talk" (#5), and "Where Have You Been" (#9).
