Not that I'm looking for this song to impact yet another format, but I find it odd that this could hit #1 on Alternative and top 10 on CHR/Pop, yet not even crack the top 40 at Hot AC. I notice that it has 235 spins from the Mediabase format leaders, so it might debut this week.

This song just doesn't seem right for HOTAC. However, knowing the vast number of stations that simply jump on board with what is being played by other stations, I wouldn't be surprised to see it get into the HOTAC top40. Besides, you don't need a lot of spins to do that.

If "In the End" went recurrent on Hot AC then "Headstrong" shouldn't have any problem charting. It'll make an appearance soon. Plus, it's rock.

If Hot a/c's were how they were prior to Modern a/c's, this would be a joke to EVER be charting. But since it's not, this song is played on there a little bit, but let's face it, Hot A/C's supposed to be for the 30+ audience, and this is too loud for that.
However, speaking of the Modern A/C's, many songs would be jokes as for being played there. For instance, the only No Doubt songs that would fit would be "Don't Speak", "Bathwater", and "Underneath It All." Everything else would be a joke to get promoted there.

I'm above 30 and I know MANY above 30 audience that absolutely love Trapt. I find it hard to believe that an age group that grew up in some cases listening to Black Sabbath and AC/DC would find that too hard even if they mellowed out some. HOWEVER, I know what you are saying, and I remember my mom listening to AC when growing up and it may have fit today's HOTAC in that it played Billy Joel and some other current hits of the time, and there is NO WAY she would ever put up with a song remotely that hard.
