I can't believe this song doesn't have a thread.
Anyways, it was re-released to all formats. I believe this song went to like #40 on this format last spring, but who knows.
Anyways, it's at #19 on the chat with a bullet of +75. Stations are still playing Collide, so I think that Howie is doing fairly well and it's possible that this song will stay around for a while, especially if POP jumps on it, where it's at #44 right now, perhaps a week from entering the Top 40.
So I'm pretty sure this is Howie's third Top 20 Hot AC hit:
Perfect Time Of Day (#20- November '03) Collide (#7- Spring '05) She Says (#19- This Week)
This means that in a two year span, Howie Day has had three top 20's all off the same album. Pretty interesting.
I personally think this song is great, and while it would be great to hear new material, that if this song continues to do well, he re-releases Perfect Time of Day as well, it's a great song, but I'm sure he is ready for somethign new as well. We'll have to wait and see. So anyways, how do you guys feel about this single?

I love this song! When I heard this was going to be re-released, I was bummed because I thought there were more radio-friendly songs left on the album. However, after actually hearing this on the radio I realize this song is catchier than I originally gav it credit for. Here's hoping for another slow burning Top 10 HAC hit.

Do they play a remix or anything? I thought the original off the CD taht went for adds a while back was a bit too, unexciting and acoustic. But, then again, a lot of groups/acts have had a lot of success since then with acoustic oriented songs.
Noticed this song was never repushed for AAA. That's a strange one, as I think it would have gone Top 5 if it was.

They finally released the video for this song. I like it alot but i am biased cuz I think he's a hottie. But that's besides the point. This song is awesome and i'm very impressed that he made top 40 on the pop format. How's he doing on Hot AC ?

How's he doing on Hot AC ? He's up one spot to #16 on the latest chart and will likely move up to #14 next week.

I think that the re-recorded mix helped his chart success. I like both the album and the current radio version.

The new radio version is like impossible to find! Anyway, I'm liking this song more with every lsiten. I mean I loved it from day one on the album, but the radio edit is different enough that it gives the song a "new" factor with me again.

What I thought was the radio edit, I got about a month ago, and it's good. But my station is currently playing the video version\radio edit, which is good as well.

Is anyone surprised that this song still has a +97 bullet and at #7 on Hot AC. It's a great song, but usually after CHR\POP loses interest in a song, so does Hot AC. It's good for Howie and even though he gets arrested more than the Cincinnati Bearcats basketball team, I think he'll explode with his next album.

I"m really liking this song. I don't think it will copy "Collide"'s amazing run, but I like it a lot. Just hate hearing about Howie's run-ins with the law and the ladies. Sounds like he's a bad drunk.

I hate the stories, and it pisses me off because I really like his album. I still listen to the album ... but the jerk stories make it hard for me to root for Howie Day to succeed.

What kind of stories are they?

I was more surprised by it kind of missing it's mark on pop radio. I mean top 40 is great for an emerging artist but I expected top 20.

The stories won out over the music with me... went 17-14-24-OFF on my top 50 chart... songs in my top 30 rarely ever fall completely off my chart... but in this case it seemed warrented as I would change the station (or turn the radio off as I did a few minutes ago) when this song came on...

I've honestly never let an artist's personal life influence how I feel about their music. Then again, I really don't care about their personal lives.
It actually seems kind of funny that people are only getting upset with Howie Day now following the airplane situation, which, if you ask me, is far less severe than the whole tour bus situation that happened MONTHS ago.
Anyway, I happen to love this song. It was #19 on my 2005 Year-End chart, and this week moved up a spot, so that's gotta say something! Whoot! Howie Day!

Well, personally it does matter to me... and apparently others care too... one need only look at someone like the Dixie Chicks and the dubious airplay loss records they broke on both the Country and AC charts when they made their infamous political remarks a couple years back... As the old saying goes, "character counts"... perhaps that's why people like .50 and Kanye West will probably never ever grace my charts...

I understand and somewhat agree ... but only to a point. Artists are humans, with all the faults, moods, and mistakes that entails. If I refused to support every artist who ever said or did anything I didn't like, there probably wouldn't be so much music in my life, and that would suck! Also, like I said in the main Howie thread, I try to take internet reports with a huge grain of salt, as stuff can get exaggerated so easily. In Howie's case I'm mostly bothered more by the police reports from the tour bus situation. While I seriously don't give a flying flip what a celebrity does in private, as long as it's consensual ... locking girls in bathrooms for not having sex isn't consensual. That's where it becomes hard for me to look aside. Back to the music -- She Says is one of my least favorite songs on his album. So with this song I don't feel much conflict between muscial interest and personal disinterest. With Collide it was harder, because I truly love that song.

Toward the end of "She Says" I sense Howie sounding a bit angry.

I am disgusted by the "late" news that I have heard today. On my personal charts he has achieved the following:
1)"She Says" has one of three longest running songs in my top 40 chart, an amazing 25 week run.
2) Had the number 2 song of 2005 with "Collide" .
I don't know if I can listen to another song from him, I guess I will stick to Jack Johnson and better Ryan Cabrera songs (if that).
