[blue]1/13/06[/blue]:
Note: Recall that R&R does not count the two weeks during its holiday break
#1: “Photograph” holds at #1 for an eighth week
Oldest Song: “You and Me” continues to be the longevity champ with 47 weeks on.
Oldest Song(s) below the top 15: This section could be titled “Recurrent Rebels”. “Right Here” by Staind slips one to 17 in its 22nd week on the chart, while “Home” by Michael Buble refuses to go home and climbs one to 26 in its 21st chart week.
Possibly Going to Recurrent: “Beverly Hills”, “Have a Nice Day”, “Good Is Good” if any of them fall below #15
Going to Recurrent: “Feel Good Inc” is in its 20th week this week
Biggest Mover(s): “Just Feel Better” (29-25) and “Unwritten” (37-33).
Debuts: O.A.R.’s second hit to chart on Hot AC is this week’s highest debut at #32 with “Love and Memories” Coldplay earn their 9th hit with “Talk”, while Aqualung get their first hit with “Brighter than Sunshine”
Exiting the Survey: “Geek in the Pink”, “Fix You”, “Don’t Lie”. “Geek…” exits from its peak position of #30.
Other Notes: Lifehouse ties the record for most weeks in the top 5 as “You and Me” spends its 35th week there. INXS ties its highest peak on Hot AC as “Pretty Vegas” moves up to #11. “Elegantly Wasted” peaked there in 1997. Madonna’s “Hung Up” reaches a new peak of #16. “I’m Feeling You” continues its relative free-fall down the chart, falling 5 to #20 in only its 15th week on the chart.

#1: “Photograph” holds at #1 for a ninth week
Oldest Song: “You and Me” continues to be the longevity champ with 48 weeks on.
Oldest Song(s) below the top 15: "Feel Good Inc" with 21 weeks. Not sure why this song was left on as it should be done. Excluding this, "I'm Feeling You" is the oldest song with 16 weeks.
Possibly Going to Recurrent: “Good Is Good” if it falls below #15.
Going to Recurrent: “Feel Good Inc” should be removed.
Biggest Mover: "Talk" leaps 11 notches to #26
Debuts: Newcomers Saving Jane have the highest debut at #35 with "Girl Next Door" Fall Out Boy score their 2nd top 40 hit with "Dance, Dance" at #39 HAC Star Kelly Clarkson debuts with her 8th hit, "Walk Away" at #40.
Exiting the Survey: (All to Recurrent): "Have a Nice Day", 'Beverly Hills", "Home"
Other Notes: Lifehouse settles for tying the record for most weeks in the top 5 as it slides to #6. INXS reaches a new highest peak on Hot AC as “Pretty Vegas” moves up to #10. "Right Here" moves above #15 for the first time in its 23rd week on the chart Santana exits the top 20 with "I'm Feeling You" but he isn't gone..."Just Feel Better" moves up 5 to #20. Scott Stapp rebounds almost to his peak position as "The Great Divide" moves 28-25 (24 is the peak so far) Relatively lots of big movements this week as 12 songs move up at least 3 spots. Besides the huge jump by Coldplay (up 11), All American Rejects move up 8 to #28 with "Dirty Little Secret".

How does a song go to Recurrent? Is there a special rule for that? I never really understood that lol

Songs are automatically removed to recurrent status and off the chart if they're falling, below #15, and have been on the chart for more than 20 weeks. So, with "I'm Feeling You" at 16 weeks on the chart, it'll have 4 more weeks on and will then be pulled, as long as it stays below #15 (which I'm sure is a reasonable assumption).

That's the general rule, but it is not followed exactly by R&R (for example, look at Staind. They should have gone recurrent 2 weeks ago, but they are still on the chart.) R&R plays games with "the record company is still promoting the single, so don't remove it from the current list" to keep some songs on for beyond what the recurrent rules states.

Ohhh, that makes sense now. It looks like "You And Me" by Lifehouse will be on there for quite a while then. It's interesting how "Lonely No More" by Rob Thomas was ranked higher on R&R's year end charts even though it went to recurrents way before "You And Me" and they were released on the same day.

Yeah, it is slightly surprising at first. But after you think about the incredible start "Lonely No More" had, it really isn't I think Rob made the top 5 in his fourth week at radio while Lifehouse lingered in the bottom half of the top 20 for a couple of months before it really broke out. I actually thought Lifehouse would pull out No. 1 last year and push Green Day and Rob down one but I'm glad they didn't considering they'll probably be close to being in the top 10 on this year's chart.

I just hope that Lifehouse can finally put up 2 hits in a row with "You and Me" and "Blind" even though the latter is also starting off somewhat slow. How do you think that song will fare in the charts?

Looks like Lifehouse gets the Top 5 record to themselves, as "You And Me" rebounds 6-5 on the Jan. 27 Hot AC chart. Nice accomplishment for a nice song!
