Bumped up to August 1st.
I like it, but I don't know how this is going to hit the chart. A relative unknown band with one moderate alt/rock hit and another minor rock hit... trying for Hot AC play with a second single from their second album?

Now that I know where this thread actually is (read: I'm a dumbass), these are my thoughts. I think it has potential to do well even if it is an unknown band to AC since a lot of bands have started their career with a cover (Alien Ant Farm, Orgy, etc.). Of course it's true that Ra is not starting out their career, but I think this cover has potential to boost their status and get more people to buy Duality, which would make me very happy since Ra deserves more exposure than they currently have. Which is another reason why it's good that this is going to AC because it means that Universal is at least trying to get Ra out into more areas. Plus it's a cover of the Police. Who doesn't love the Police?

Not as good as the original but I still hope this does well since their debut single underperformed on Active Rock.

RA Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic Producer(s): Sahaj Ticotin Writer(s): Sting Publisher(s): EMI Blackwood Genre: ROCK Label/Catalog Number: Universal (CD promo) Source: Billboard Magazine Originally Reviewed: August 27, 2005
According to its profile, New York's RA is an "unlikely" quartet with a love for hip-hop, jazz, metal and seven-string guitars. Sounds interesting, right? Unfortunately, the act's flaccid cover of the Police's "Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic" suggests the sort of musical illiteracy usually reserved for the deaf. There are simply no ideas at work here, nothing whatsoever to suggest creative thought. Rather, the band drags out every modern rock cliché that should have died five years ago, including bland power chords and a mostly unremarkable vocalist. As the song draws to a close, the band members seem mere moments from trying to stretch themselves, and perhaps shatter any old standard of asinine interpretation—but then the song fades out. Mercifully. —Jordan Heller Weissmann
