I notice that Rob Thomas, Green Day and Kelly Clarkson all have two songs in the Top 20 on the Hot AC chart on Mediabase right now. Is this unusual? Is this good or bad for Hot AC to have 3 artists with two songs each? What do you think? Here's the link: mmr247.com/mmrweb/AllAccess/Charts.asp?format=a2R

I think it's alright, as long as the older songs are not impeding the new songs' progress. I'm still not bored of "Lonely No More" yet, so I don't mind it still being in the top 5.

I was finding it unusual that BOBD started moving back up and has a bullet almost as big as Holiday now..

I don't see anything wrong with this as I see all three artists as HotAC artists (even GD as this point in their career). What I do have a problem with is seeing Keith Urban on the HotAC chart (or any country artist). I have nothing against Keith and even like some of his stuff; however, he is taking radio spins away from other artists that ONLY have HotAC as their radio outlet. Now, if country radio would start playing HotAC ballads to even things out, it wouldn't be bad but that is never going to happen.

What artists have Hot AC as their ONLY radio outlet? Every artist on Hot AC is on Pop, AC, or AAA. Normal listeners don't care about such rigid format categories. They just want to hear a good song. If Keith Urban is a good song to the Hot AC audience, and it fits in with the other Hot AC music, Hot AC should play it. I don't see a lot of listeners thinking "this is too Country, I want more Vertical Horizon".

I think it's great Keith Urban made the Hot AC chart. I'm surprised, but they did a good job marketing it. The song did very well on AC, and AC-crossovers are too rare - it only adds to the variety.
Country, meanwhile, is a much more narrowly defined format. Hot AC is supposed to play a variety of light rock, as well as pop and light R&B. If Hot AC was renamed the Lite Rock Chart, then maybe Keith Urban doesn't belong.
It is unfortunately "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" has started moving back up. Give "Holiday" and "Wake Me When September Ends" a chance.

Actually, a few weeks ago, Gwen Stefani also had two songs simultaneously in the top 20. So there were actually four artists to have a pair of hits in the top 20 at the same time: Green Day, Rob Thomas, Kelly Clarkson, and Gwen Stefani. That was the most I've ever seen.
However, I do remember a period in 2000 when there were 3 artists who did so. One of them was Third Eye Blind ("Never Let You Go" and "Deep Inside Of You").

I think its great! It really bothers me when they don't want to place a second or third song at the same time. If it is popular, who cares if it is by the same artist?
