Sorry I'm so late posting this, just sort of slipped my mind over the past week.
LC TC SONG/ARTIST 02 01 Lonely No More/Rob Thomas 01 02 Since U Been Gone/Kelly Clarkson 03 03 Breathe/Anna Nalick 04 04 You & Me/Lifehouse 05 05 American Baby/U2 10 06 Chariot/Gavin DeGraw Flashback Track - The 90s: Ironic/Alanis Morissette (1996) 12 07 Speed Of Sound/Coldplay On The Verge: Can't Behave/Courtney Jaye 11 08 Mr. Brightside/The Killers On The Verge: Incomplete/The Backstreet Boys 07 09 Rich Girl/Gwen Stefani 08 10 Collide/Howie Day 06 11 Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own/U2 Flashback Track - the 80s: Bette Davis Eyes/Kim Carnes 13 12 Almost/Bowling For Soup On The Verge: A Lifetime/Better Than Ezra 09 13 Sunday Morning/Maroon 5 14 14 Breakaway/Kelly Clarkson XX 15 Better Now/Collective Soul
Dropped: #15: Let Me Go/3 Doors Down
Well, at least the chart sort of makes sense, save for the absence of Green Day and 3 Doors Down. But, if songs like "One Thing" and "Breakaway" re-appear on the chart after a hiatus, then those songs might do the same too. Not this week, though.
They're back to playing three On The Verge songs this week, and two of them are brand new songs that have never been played on this show. "Incomplete" is one of my favorite songs this week, so I'm glad to hear that one anytime. As for the Courtney Jaye song, I have never heard that song before. It has sort of a retro-80s sound to it, so it might do well at the Hot AC format like other 80s-flavored songs have done in the past. The other On The Verge song, "A Lifetime" by Better Than Ezra, is a song that's been featured before as OTV, but not as often as stuff like "Sitting Waiting Wishing" by Jack Johnson, which they seem to play every other week, sometimes on back-to-back weeks. They must hold out a lot of hope for that song! I was pleasantly surprised to hear "Bette Davis Eyes" by Kim Carnes. Rachel Perry made a slight faux pas, though, when referring to the song's stay on top. She said that "Bette Davis Eyes" was at number one for nine consecutive weeks. Not true: the song's run at number one was interrupted in mid-June, 1981 by the first of several Stars On 45's medleys. And they couldn't have been talking about the R&R chart, since it spent five weeks at number one there. I'm glad that Rob Thomas re-claimed the top spot this week. Even though I'm getting tired of that song, I'm more tired of "Since U Been Gone". I hope Anna Nalick isn't the next number one song. But who knows, this chart is very unpredictable.

Another stable chart this week. No re-entries by 3 Doors Down or Green Day or anything else still in the Top 15 of the other national Hot AC charts, though. Oh well, we've heard those songs only about umpteen times already. It's nice to hear fresh music once in awhile. I couldn't believe my eyes when the countdown started off. "Sitting, Waiting, Wishing" has finally debuted on the chart, after being played as an On The Verge track practically every week since March. The question is, how long will it stick around and if it falls off the chart next week, will they return to the On The Verge list, like "Chariot" by Gavin DeGraw recently did? I guess we'll have to see. Another surprise was with the Flashback Track of the 1990s. When Rachel Perry mentioned the year 1998, I expected to hear either "Torn" or "Iris", but they actually played a song that radio hasn't touched since 1998, "I Get Lonely" by Janet. I don't even remember how high that song got on the chart! Well, Kelly Clarkson continues to fall down the chart, moving 2-4. Will she pull a Green Day and fall off the chart next week? How nice that would be... BTW, soon, as songs from early March continue to clear out, I'll be able to add a "weeks charted" column to this feature. The songs that need to leave the chart first are "Collide" by Howie Day, which seems ready to drop out and "Since U Been Gone" by Kelly Clarkson. Who knows when that'll happen? As I said, she might disappear next week (entirely possible, with "Behind These Hazel Eyes" on its way up) or she might remain on the chart for several more months (a la "She Will Be Loved"). Be that as it may, as soon as those two songs are gone, the "weeks charted" column will be added.

"Almost Perfect" by Ingram Hill is steadily falling from the charts and it's losing some points at CHR. I love the song to death however, it should not be on the verge.

Yeah, and I don't think that Courtney Jaye's new song is anywhere near the Top 15 on R&R. But I'm not complaining; it's nice to hear fresh hits instead of the same songs over and over again as On The Verge songs, such was the case when I first started listening. I mean, how many times had they played "Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own" and "Sitting Waiting Wishing"?

I missed the last three songs, since I had to go somewhere during the beginning of the last hour and the tape I used to record the rest of the show stopped in the middle of number four, so I made estimations. That's why the Top Three are in bold. I'll have to listen closely next week, in case host Rachel Perry mentions the movement (she most likely will say what was number one last week, regardless).

Actually, I believe Lifehouse was #1 this week. I always catch the tail end of this show right before AT20 comes on but I'm not always fully alert!
By the way, if you can't hear the entire countdown, you can probably figure it out by logging onto stoneage.yes.com and seeing if your local station is listed. However, you need to do this within 24 hours of the show's airing.

Actually, it looks like you can only access playlists from major markets. The station on which I catch the show, WCNF (The Coast) is from Benton Harbor, Michigan. The markets from Michigan are Bay City, Detroit, East Lansing, Flint, Grand Rapids, Lansing, Midland, and Saginaw.
Meanwhile, I'll amend the post and, if it's wrong, I'll edit it next week.

Well, at last, they brought back two songs that should not have been dropped in the first place. Green Day is back in the Top Five where they belong. 3 Doors Down should probably have at least gotten Top Ten, but hey, as long as they're back, I'm not gonna quibble.
They did drop a song that's still in R&R's Top Ten (using the June 17 chart), "Collide" by Howie Day, but that song's on its way out anyway. There are three other songs in R&R's Top 15 that are gone from the VH-1 chart. These songs are: "Give A Little Bit" by The Goo Goo Dolls (#11 R&R) "Sunday Morning" by Maroon 5 (#13 R&R) "Breakaway" by Kelly Clarkson (#14 R&R).
The four songs on the VH-1 chart that have not yet hit R&R's Top 15 include: "Behind These Hazel Eyes" by Kelly Clarkson (#16 R&R) "A Lifetime" by Better Than Ezra (#17 R&R) "Sitting, Waiting, Wishing" by Jack Johnson (#18 R&R) "Almost" by Bowling For Soup (#21 R&R)
The Kelly Clarkson song should definitely hit the Top 15 next week, pushing her own hit "Breakaway" off the chart. Better Than Ezra could also make the R&R Top 15, possibly pushing out "Sunday Morning", so that would be two less songs that have long since exited the VH-1 chart (I haven't yet looked at the June 24 chart, so please don't tell me what songs are where). Bowling For Soup goes recurrent on that chart, so I wonder if they're going to drop it from the VH-1 chart. and possibly allow Howie Day or the Goo Goo Dolls to return. Probably not, it'll probably be a debut song, such as the latest by the Backstreet Boys or Avril Lavigne. Jason Mraz was one of this week's On The Verge songs, so maybe he'll make it. Rob Thomas is also a strong contender. We'll have to see what happens next week. I'm glad that the chart is a little closer to R&R than it has been over the past few weeks. Will it stay that way? Of course not, but we can always dream, right?

Flashback Track - The 80s: Sexy Eyes/Dr. Hook (1980) When was the last time this got played on the radio? Not sure. It rather surprised me, too that they picked this song, since it's pretty obscure at this point and whenever they play something from the early 80s, it's usually something we hear on 80s-based stations all the time. When I heard that they picked 1980, I figured they'd play something like "Funkytown", since that was indeed number one this week in 1980. I was also surprised at their pick for the 1990s Flashback Track. Two weeks ago, they played an R&B song and they did it again this week. Is Hot AC radio really going that way? I sure hope not. I started listening to that format to get away from that type of music!
