Isn't it funny that if stations really add songs and test them in they're markets and play it according to the results that if songs don't do good elsewhere or on the top 40 they drop them and never play them again. For instance Sugar Ray's "Shot of Laughter". It's not Top 40 yet it could still go or fade away. It's on 12 stations. Ok heres my point. I program music and have loved hit music for 20 some years. It's one of his catchiest songs ever. OK it doesn't go top 40 times change i guess, i can almost except that but how can not 1 station have success with it and keep it for the long haul. sounds fishy. It's all run by 3-4 company's, the PD's are like monkeys on strings. Monkee see Monkee do. Is there any independants out there with guts anymore. This is why XM & Sirius & Internet Radio is putting a hurt on FM radio. No one believes you can drive around the US and here carbon copy playlists. God created us all different didn't he. It's time for a musical revolution and we PD's as well as fans need to strike & stand up let it be known we want more variety, more new artists being broke, but most important if it's a hit ADD IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The song isn't even Top 10 in Adult Top 40 call out yet. It also doesn't have anything to do with age or amount of stations playing it. Def Leppard is Top 10 in Adult Top 40 call out right now.

This raises an interesting point about the future of radio. However, I'll argue that it's in the hands of the listeners whether FM Radio survives or if Internet Radio will prevail. I've listened to Internet Radio stations that have a varied playlist, which is what I like. A lot of FM stations play the same few dozen songs over and over, and it gets tiresome.

I wasn't saying anything to do with that or trying to groundbreak anything new. Everyone radio nerd knows it's owned by a few company's. I was just speaking on behalf of some of the old timers who love Music and Radio and want to keep it alive and playin' hits. A song doesn't haft to go top 10 call out to make top 40 heck rob thomas was #1 call out at tons of chr pop stations and almost didn't get Top 10 at POP. I was just saying when the days of listening to a song as a PD and deciding to add it or pass based on merit of songs potential is based on how many other stations add it =, what were looking at is who's gonna make th efirst move and if any moves amde at all. KSTZ Des Moines PD knows exactly what i'm getting at as does Music Man from WPLJ. Even the big stations see mistakes on single choices and promotion given to unworthy artists and not to talented new artists and radio not coming back for the next singles and overplaying the first. Yes before i get a ton of smartelic tell us something we don't knows, I'm just venting and doing my part at Ultra Mix Radio in keepin' traditional hits radio going.......
