Heard this a few nights ago. On the coming X&Y album. This song is similar to The Scientist, it's a good one.

COLDPLAY SHOOTS VIDEO FOR NEXT SINGLE
New Rock News provided by LaunchDaily
Coldplay shot a video for its next single, "Fix You," at the end of the band's performance in Bolton, England on Monday (July 4th), according to NME.com. Singer Chris Martin surprised the audience by announcing that cameras were in the venue to film the band playing the song. The group ran through the tune twice, with Martin encouraging the crowd to act as extras. The quartet also sang "Happy Birthday" to an audience member earlier in the show.
"Fix You" is the second single from the new Coldplay album, X&Y, which has spent three weeks at Number One on the Billboard Top 200.

"Fix You" is the second single from the new Coldplay album, X&Y, which has spent three weeks at Number One on the Billboard Top 200. Perfect. "Speed of Sound" was essentially "Clocks 2." Now we get "The Scientist 2."

I love this song but it isn't really single material. "White shadows" should have been the follow-up single instead.

I must be the only one who thinks "Fix You" is a way better choice for a single instead of "White Shadows".
I suppose would have liked "The Hardest Part" or "A Message", but maybe those will come at a later time.

KNDD's been playing "Fix You" for some time now. I've actually been trying to avoid it for some time until I could listen to the album in full. But this song is excellent. I still have to give the album some more listens, but this seems to be the standout track. Yeah, I think the comparisons to "The Scientist" are fair. But think this rivals "The Scientist" in terms of beauty and quality. Hopefully, they can make a decent video to go with it.

"Fix You" seems like it'd be better as third single material, but I guess they want their monster early. While "Speed Of Sound" is definitely "Clocks 2," "Fix You" isn't nearly as reminiscent of "The Scientist" as much as the other pairing.

They need to release "White Shadows" or "Talk" next. I'd much see "White Shadows" released though.

Brilliant song.......but bad single choice.
This track is just too good to be a single, period. In other words, the best songs don't always make good singles and should just be left alone.
Right now what Coldplay need to do is release something that will appease their Alternative base to give "Speed of Sound" further time to embrace the Top 40 and then give space for another potential crossover single.
They ought to be releasing either "Talk" or "White Shadows" to Alternative and Triple A, two tracks that are both great for these formats and infectious enough as their next move.
Then, once "Speed of Sound" descends and the third single is ready, they can release another great potential crossover track ("A Message") and then the fourth single can be a wild card, either going more artsy or going with an obvious candidate ("Swallowed In The Sea")
I don't agree with this single selection, and believe though it can certainly go #1 at Triple A, which has become a Coldplay emporium, this is only going to float up to around the Top 20 at Alternative, and this may get nowhere at all here, especially with "Speed of Sound" becoming ubiquitous.
Sincerely, Noah Eaton

No, say it isn't so, say it isn't so! :( I happen to believe "Fix You" actually antes up on "The Scientist", and is their best ballad they've ever written. Yet, the video for "The Scientist" is just extraordinary and is a classic. That video and "Trouble" are probably going to be quintessential videos of this decade. I'm tired of all their performance-style videos ("In My Place", "Clocks", "Speed of Sound"). They need to make a really artistic video for this single...it deserves one. Sincerely, Noah Eaton

They need to make a really artistic video for this single...it deserves one. You know, I thought the SAME exact thing. "Fix You" deserves a major epic video with a storyline and some great imagery. Coldplay's videos for "Clocks" and "SOS" are virtually the same, and now "Fix You" is just going to get lame old live video treatment? I couldn't figure out why, but now that I think about I bet it has to do with Chris Martin not wanting some big budget video when he preaches that instead of beng extravagent, people should donate money to third world countries.

I think if the song takes off the group might reconsider. We'll have to see.
