By now, you're probably thinking that I missed last weekend's broadcast of the VH-1 Weekly Rewind. Well, you're absolutely wrong! I just forgot to post it:

LC TC SONG/ARTIST 02 01 Lonely No More/Rob Thomas 03 02 Since U Been Gone/Kelly Clarkson 08 03 Breathe/Anna Nalick 01 04 Boulevard Of Broken Dreams/Green Day 05 05 Sunday Morning/Maroon 5 06 06 Collide/Howie Day Flashback Track - the 80s: Why Can't This Be Love/Van Halen (1986) 07 07 You And Me/Lifehouse On The Verge: Better Now/Collective Soul 12 08 Mr. Brightside/The Killers 11 09 American Baby/Dave Matthews Band On The Verge: A Lifetime/Better Than Ezra 14 10 Rich Girl/Gwen Stefani f/Eve 13 11 Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own/U2 Flashback Track - the 90s: Believe/Cher (1999) 15 12 Chariot/Gavin DeGraw 04 13 Let Me Go/3 Doors Down RE 14 One Thing/Finger Eleven XX 15 What Happens Tomorrow/Duran Duran
Dropped: #9: Give A Little Bit/The Goo Goo Dolls #10: Look What You've Done/Jet
Now, this was definitely a weird chart. How the heck did Finger Eleven re-enter the chart after two months? What's up with Three Doors Down? Did that song really lose THAT much popularity?
I'm not sure how long it's been since "One Thing" dropped out, since I never actually heard it on the show. But I have a feeling that its last week on the chart (well, until now) was March 6, since the first time I heard an entire show was March 13. There's really no reason that it should have even dropped out then, since it was way up in the Top Ten on the R&R chart. However, at this point, I'm not sure this show is even comparable to that chart. Since this is called the "VH-1 Weekly Rewind", is it possible that the chart is based on the number of times the videos were aired during the week? If so, I guess that would account for the erratic movement of the songs. Or it could just be a situation similar to 20: The Countdown Magazine, where the chart is compiled by a staff of blindfolded apes. To my chagrin, "Breathe" by Anna Nalick makes the biggest move on the chart this week. I have no idea why, but for some reason, I just don't like that song. Also, big moves this week from artists like the Killers, Gwen Stefani featuring Eve, and Gavin DeGraw. Only two songs move down this week. Other than the sudden decline of "Let Me Go", we have "Boulevard Of Broken Dreams" by Green Day falling out of the top spot (after eleven long weeks!) to number four. This is the first time since February (and the first time since I've been listening to the show) that there's been a brand new number one song. After waiting patiently at number two for over a month, Rob Thomas finally shoves his way into the number one position. But how long can he stay? Kelly Clarkson and Anna Nalick (Ugh, two repulsive songs!) are breathing down his neck and I have a feeling that Rob's stay at the top won't be as long as that of Green Day.

I've misplaced my notes from the May 21 chart, so I cannot post it right now. As soon as I'll find this, I'll edit this post to include the chart, then amend the following post, which contains the May 28 chart, however, the "last week" information is spotty.

LC TC SONG/ARTIST 01 01 Since U Been Gone/Kelly Clarkson 02 02 Lonely No More/Rob Thomas 03 03 Breathe/Anna Nalick ?? 04 You And Me/Lifehouse ?? 05 American Baby/Dave Matthews Band ?? 06 Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own/U2 Flashback Track - the 80s: One More Try/George Michael (1988) ?? 07 Rich Girl/Gwen Stefani f/Eve On The Verge: Better Now/Collective Soul ?? 08 Collide/Howie Day 05 09 Sunday Morning/Maroon 5 On The Verge: Sitting, Waiting, Wishing/Jack Johnson ?? 10 Chariot/Gavin DeGraw ?? 11 Mr. Brightside/The Killers Flashback Track - the 90s: The Most Beautiful Girl In The World/The Artist Formerly Known As Prince XX 12 Speed Of Sound/Coldplay XX 13 Almost/Bowling For Soup ?? 14 Breakaway/Kelly Clarkson 15 15 Let Me Go/3 Doors Down
Dropped: #4: Boulevard Of Broken Dreams/Green Day #14: One Thing/Finger Eleven
WTF happened? "Boulevard Of Broken Dreams" is still riding really high on the charts (was #2 on the HAC version of AT40). How the hell could it have fallen off the chart already?? I'm beginning to wonder if my blindfolded monkey theory is true. There can be no other logical explanation. Same goes for "Let Me Go" by 3 Doors Down which is, as host Rachel Perry puts it, "on its last legs". Isn't this song still riding high on the R&R Hot AC chart? Not that it matters. Given the Green Day situation, comparing this chart to the R&R Hot AC chart no longer makes any sense. I guess we'll have to see if Green Day returns next week, or if 3 Doors Down moves back up the chart.

So what, do they rank the Top videos played on VH-1 for the week, cross out all the non Hot AC songs, and there you have the chart?

I'll say this for them, though...they're starting to make Rick Dees look good. [/font]

What is the Weekly Rewind? Is this radio, or video?
I'm wondering because I've been looking for the video for one of those songs for some time and have not seen it.
