I decided to start a new topic for each month for this show, instead of piling on the original. Anyway, here's this week's chart:
LC TC SONG/ARTIST 01 01 Boulevard Of Broken Dreams/Green Day(6th week #1) 02 02 Lonely No More/Rob Thomas 04 03 Since U Been Gone/Kelly Clarkson 03 04 Give A Little Bit/The Goo Goo Dolls 05 05 Sunday Morning/Maroon 5 12 06 Collide/Howie Day Flashback Track - The 90s: How Do I Live/LeAnn Rimes (1997) 06 07 Daughters/John Mayer On The Verge: Breathe by Anna Nalick 07 08 Over & Over/Nelly f/Tim McGraw 10 09 Somewhere Only We Know/Keane On The Verge: Mr. Brightside/The Killers 11 10 Let Me Go/3 Doors Down 08 11 Lady/Lenny Kravitz Flashback Track - The 80s: Get Outta My Dreams, Get Into My Car/Billy Ocean 13 12 Look What You've Done/Jet 09 13 Breakaway/Kelly Clarkson 15 14 You & Me/Lifehouse 14 15 She Will Be Loved/Maroon 5
As usual, the chart's pretty stagnant, with no new songs. Hopefully, that will change next week, with Maroon5 getting ready to drop off and maybe even Kelly Clarkson and Lenny Kravitz, but I'd give the latter two a few more weeks. Howie Day is sure having an odd chart run. I've only been listening to the show for about a month, so I don't really know much about it, or how the chart runs usually go, but the week I started listening in full, host Rachel Perry happened to mention that it moved down five to number 14 (she usually doesn't mention chart movement). It stayed there for another week, then it moved back up to twelve last week. But this week, it takes a gigantic leap from 12 to 6. Of course, that could be partially via vacuum effect as songs by John Mayer, Nelly, and Lenny Kravitz move down. Last week's debut song, "Look What You've Done" by Jet moves up a spot to number 12. Is it me, or does that sound like something that should have been recorded by the Beatles? Green Day spend a sixth week on top, but that could be it, as Kelly Clarkson is beginning to close in on the number one spot. While it's true Rob Thomas is in the runner-up position, I somehow have a feeling that Kelly will leapfrog over him. But I could be wrong; maybe Rob will have a week or two up there. I sure hope so! Well, that's about all for this week. Hopefully, I'll be able to post next week's chart (since the show starts at 9:00, which, as I said in the March VH-1 topic, is when church lets out).

LC TC SONG/ARTIST 01 01 Boulevard Of Broken Dreams/Green Day (7th week #1) 02 02 Lonely No More/Rob Thomas 03 03 Since U Been Gone/Kelly Clarkson 04 04 Give A Little Bit/The Goo Goo Dolls 06 05 Collide/Howie Day 05 06 Sunday Morning/Maroon 5 Flashback Track - the 90s: Black Velvet/Alannah Myles (1990) 10 07 Let Me Go/3 Doors Down On The Verge: Rich Girl/Gwen Stefani f/Eve 07 08 Daughters/John Mayer 12 09 Look What You've Done/Jet On The Verge: Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own/U2 14 10 You & Me/Lifehouse 13 11 Breakaway/Kelly Clarkson Flashback Track - the 80s: Somebody's Watching Me/Rockwell (1984) 11 12 Lady/Lenny Kravitz 09 13 Somewhere Only We Know/Keane XX 14 Breathe/Anna Nalick RE 15 True/Ryan Cabrera
Dropped: #8: Over & Over/Nelly f/Tim McGraw #15: She Will Be Loved/Maroon 5
Well, I must say, in the short time in which I've been listening to this show, this has got to be the most interesting chart I've seen. Several good-sized moves, up and down, two droppers, and one of those droppers leaves from nearly halfway up the chart. That song is "Over & Over" by Tim McGraw, which didn't really belong on the chart anyway, since it was way down below the Top 20 of R&R's Hot AC chart. The reduced number of playlists sort of impeded the song's progress on the R&R, but I think it did well where it was played. Most of the stations that played it a lot must submit their playlists to VH-1 for it to have gotten so high. As I predicted two weeks ago, Ryan Cabrera returns to the chart with "True". But it might not last, as he's running out of steam at R&R. 3 Doors Down and Lifehouse both started out rather slow, but this week they both blast ahead three and four spots, respectively. Jet also makes a three spot move into the Top Ten, so those songs could do very well. "Breakaway" by Kelly Clarkson was falling like a rock over the past few weeks, but this week, she actually regains two spots. Wonder what's up with that? The biggest dropper on the countdown is "Somewhere Only We Know" by Keane, which is too bad, since I think that's a good song. But that's the breaks. At least my favorite song on the chart, "Daughters" by John Mayer is still in the Top Ten. Green Day are still hanging around at number one. The current number one on the R&R chart, "Since U Been Gone" by Kelly Clarkson still holds at number three. Rob Thomas isn't exactly out of the running either. It could be an interesting battle in the next few weeks.

Thanks for the recap. I don't get this show so it's nice to read your summaries.

You're welcome. Yeah, the show's fairly new, so hopefully, more stations will pick it up. That way, in case there's a week where I cannot post the chart, someone else can pick up the slack for me.

LC TC SONG/ARTIST 01 01 Boulevard Of Broken Dreams (8th week #1) 03 02 Since U Been Gone/Kelly Clarkson 02 03 Lonely No More/Rob Thomas 05 04 Collide/Howie Day 07 05 Let Me Go/3 Doors Down Flashback Track - The 90s: Every Morning/Sugar Ray06 06 Sunday Morning/Maroon 5 09 07 Look What You've Done/Jet On The Verge: Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own/U211 08 Breakaway/Kelly Clarkson XX 09 Rich Girl/Gwen Stefani f/Eve On The Verge: Almost/Bowling For Soup08 10 Daughters/John Mayer 04 11 Give A Little Bit/The Goo Goo Dolls Flashback Track - The 80s: Call Me/Blondie (1980)10 12 You & Me/Lifehouse XX 13 Chariot/Gavin DeGraw 14 14 Breathe (2 am)/Anna Nalick XX 15 American Baby/Dave Matthews Band Dropped: #12: Lady/Lenny Kravitz #13: Somewhere Only We Know/Keane #15: True/Ryan Cabrera Wow, quite a lot of chart action this week, huh? The most noticeable thing is three debuts. Strangely enough, the highest of the debuts is a song that's not even in the R&R Hot AC Top 20 yet. "Rich Girl" by Gwen Stefani only is being played on 25 stations right now - probably the same stations that play "Over And Over" by Nelly and Tim McGraw, since that song only peaked at 16 on the R&R Hot AC chart but managed to climb all the way to number seven (if not higher) on the Weekly Rewind chart. The Goo Goo Dolls sure took a big fall this week! "Give A Little Bit" plunges seven spots to number eleven. The question is, why the hell is "Breakaway" by Kelly Clarkson moving back up three spots to become the week's biggest jumper?? That does not make sense, especially since "You & Me" by Lifehouse, which moved up four spots to #10 last week, drops back to #12. Kelly Clarkson should be at #12 instead. Oh well, maybe she'll drop off the entire survey next week. Probably not, but we can always dream (don't get me wrong; the song's halfway decent, but enough is enough!) The Flashback tracks sure couldn't have been stretched out over a much longer span of time than they are this week! For the 1980s, they played one of the oldest songs they've probably ever played on the "Weekly Rewind" (at least we know this show isn't owned by Premiere, or they probably wouldn't have been allowed to play anything from before 1985 ) But it's a song that all Hot AC listeners have heard many a time, the number one song of 1980, "Call Me" by Blondie. For the 1990s, they played the latest year that they could use, 1999 and, coincidentally, it was also the top song of the year, "Every Morning" by Sugar Ray. And both songs were number one this week in their respective years (usually, the song they play isn't from the same time of the year). Green Day once again holds down the top spot with "Boulevard Of Broken Dreams", for the eighth week running. This may be it for them, however, since Kelly Clarkson takes over the runner-up position (I guess Rob Thomas won't sneak in a week or two at number one after all).

Hot Jet remake! Yup! I wish someone would remake more of their songs, especially "You Got It All" and "Make It Real" ;)

LC TC SONG/ARTIST 01 01 Boulevard Of Broken Dreams/Green Day (9th week #1) 03 02 Lonely No More/Rob Thomas 02 03 Since U Been Gone/Kelly Clarkson 06 04 Sunday Morning/Maroon 5 05 05 Let Me Go/3 Doors Down 11 06 Give A Little Bit/The Goo Goo Dolls Flashback Track - the 90s: I've Been Thinking About You/Londonbeat (1991) 04 07 Collide/Howie Day On The Verge: Sitting, Waiting, Wishing/Jack Johnson 14 08 Breathe (2am)/Anna Nalick 12 09 You & Me/Lifehouse On The Verge: Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own XX 10 Beautiful Soul/Jesse McCartney 07 11 Look What You've Done/Jet Flashback Track - the 80s: Come On Eileen/Dexy's Midnight Runners 15 12 American Baby/Dave Matthews Band XX 13 Mr. Brightside/The Killers 13 14 Chariot/Gavin DeGraw 09 15 Rich Girl/Gwen Stefani f/Eve
Dropped: #8: Breakaway/Kelly Clarkson :) #10: Daughters/John Mayer :(
Well, I must say, the chart is just as erratic as 20: The Countdown Magazine was about this time last year. For instance, Gwen Stefani debuted all the way up at number nine last week, now she falls down to 15. And the Goo Goo Dolls, which fell 4-11 last week, are back up five to number six. Plus, Kelly Clarkson, who had been moving back up the survey for the past few weeks and was #8 last week, drops off. This countdown's getting good! The first two weeks that I heard the show, it seemed quite lame, with very little chart movement. Not a very good first impression, huh? The On The Verge songs and Flashback Tracks were pretty boring, however. How many times have they featured the latest U2 and Jack Johnson songs as On The Verge? And you can tune into any 80s station and be sure to hear "Come On Eileen" within the hour, such is the case with "I've Been Thinking About You" on AC stations (and sometimes I even hear it on Sunny 101.5's Totally 80s weekends even though it's from 1991, but they do have a handful of 90s songs in the weekend programming) Rob Thomas moves back up into the runner-up spot, so he might still have a chance at hitting the top. But we can't count out Kelly Clarkson, either. As I've said before, it could be a battle for the top spot in the next few weeks. But for now, Green Day hold onto the top spot for a ninth week running.

LC TC SONG/ARTIST 01 01 Boulevard Of Broken Dreams/Green Day 02 02 Lonely No More/Rob Thomas 03 03 Since U Been Gone/Kelly Clarkson 05 04 Let Me Go/3 Doors Down 04 05 Sunday Morning/Maroon5 07 06 Collide/Howie Day Flashback Track - the 90s: Always Be My Baby/Mariah Carey (1996) 06 07 Give A Little Bit/The Goo Goo Dolls On The Verge: Sitting, Waiting, Wishing by Jack Johnson 09 08 You And Me/Lifehouse 08 09 Breathe/Anna Nalick On The Verge: Almost/Bowling For Soup 10 10 Beautiful Soul/Jesse McCartney Flashback Track - the 80s: Kiss/Prince (1986) 12 11 American Baby/Dave Matthews Band 13 12 Mr. Brightside/The Killers On The Verge: Chariot/Gavin DeGraw 11 13 Look What You've Done/Jet XX 14 Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own/U2 15 15 Rich Girl/Gwen Stefani f/Eve
Interesting that they had three "On The Verge" songs this week instead of the usual two. One of those songs, "Chariot" by Gavin DeGraw is this week's sole dropper, so it's apparently still gaining plays but just got pushed back by the competition. Maybe it'll re-enter the chart next week. I hope so, because it's a good one. Finally, we can depend on not hearing "Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own" by U2 as an On The Verge track week after week, as it debuts this week at #14. I sure hope it doesn't fall out next week. After being rather action-packed for the past few weeks, the chart settles down a little, with very little movement. Green Day spends a tenth week on top and who knows what'll happen next week. Every song from number four on up seems to have a chance at the top spot. We'll have to see what happens.
