For those of you waiting for the follow-up to his #1 hit "Cannonball", it seems we finally have a new single from him coming.
The gorgeous "The Blower's Daughter" will be the third single, full with the stand-out surreal chorus lyric, "I can't keep my eyes off of you!"
Despite the lyrical charm of this, this likely won't hit like "Cannonball" did. Still, it should give Damien respect among the most loyal Triple A listeners.
My Prediction: #12
Sincerely, Noah Eaton

This song is awesome. Not as immediate as "Cannonball" though, so it won't do as well.

What's so great about it? It sounds exactly like his other songs. If you're a fan of those other songs, you'd like this one. If you're not, then you won't.

"Cannonball" peaked at #19 on the UK Singles Chart last week. Now it's down to #24. It also debuted at #64 on the Eurochart Hot 100. Of course his longevity won't be huge, anyway.

This is being promoted in conjunction with the new Julia Roberts/Jude Law/Natalie Portman movie, Closer. Clips of the film run throughout the video. Hopefully it'll spark some interest.

Geez, it's taking forever to follow-up his #1 AAA hit. Then again, it took the Wallflowers forever to follow-up "How Good It Can Get" with "Closer to You" and that ended up being, arguably, the strongest single from the record in terms of longevity. Sincerely, Noah Eaton

I saw the video on VH1. I don't like it. It just plods along, as if his voice alone is enough to carry the song. At least with "Volcano" he had a semblance of melody and that girl backing him up. Plus, interjecting those scenes from the movie seems kinda shallow to me. It's like "Well, look, this song is all artistic and such, plus it's also in the new Julia Roberts/Jude Law movie!" I mean, I'm not accusing anyone of selling out, but it's just awfully distracting when I watched the video.

Love his album, and this song. I haven't seen the video, which is probably a good thing. Videos from soundtracks usually annoy me.

Week ending 2/18/2005: Kind of surprised to see this as N&A at Triple A with 106 plays, 7 stations, and 0 adds.

I got an e-mail from Ratethemusic. com about this song a few weeks back. I love it. So hauntingly beautiful. The title is kind of stupid though.

This song was featured very prominently on last night's episode of Lost.

After seeing Closer tonight, I have to say that this song is so appropriate for that movie and really adds so much power to both the very first and very last scene of the movie. Granted the popularity of the film, I am very surprised this isn't going anywhere at radio. But, the thing is a lot of people know this song despite the lack of airplay because it is managing to get exposure outside of the conventional outlets.

I love this song now. (And the movie.) But, the thing is a lot of people know this song despite the lack of airplay because it is managing to get exposure outside of the conventional outlets. I would say achieving a breakthrough into mainstream consciousness through a movie is quite conventional nowadays.

I'm surprised this song didn't go anywhere in the US. It was featured very prominently on the "Closer" trailers.

I'm not surprised this song wasn't successful. One thing's for sure - it has nothing to do with the quality of the song. This is easily one of my favorite Damien singles.
BUT I think he should've released Amie after Cannonball, personally. I could see Amie doing moderately well on a few formats.
