Going for adds October 11.
Before anyone else says it, God don't let this be a Supertramp cover.

new studio album That's why I hope it's not a cover. What an uneventful way to lead off a new album.

This is up on iTunes right now. It doesn't sound bad at all, but the album picture that is shown with the single is something that says "the goo goo dolls live in buffalo July 4, 2004." As far as I can tell, it isn't a live cut...but maybe this is an studio song to release as a single from a live album...?

Hot Supertramp remake!
(I don't even like the original, so I'll probably hate this cover version.)

I don't mind this but it sounds so blah and anonymous. Who could believe this coming from the same band who brought us "Iris"? :(

Ugh... live albums should ome after studio albums as a side project for hardcore fans. Who releases a live album as their first release in over 2 years? >:(

This is actually from the live DVD/CD package - not just a live album. The DVD was recorded at a July Fourth show in Buffalo in a torrential downpour.
New studio album should be out next year.

After a few listens this is pretty good as a remake can be I guess. Not better, not worse than the original except I like Johny Rzenik's voice better overall. I would have loved to hear original material but this is to hold us over until the new studio cd comes out next year.

It's one of the greatest gainers at Hot AC and Taking Off at CHR/Pop.

lmao @ the last few sentences. This CT guy shouldn't even be allowed to write reviews.
GOO GOO DOLLS Give a Little Bit Producer(s): Rob Cavallo, Goo Goo Dolls Writer(s): R. Hodgson, R. Davies Publisher(s): Almo/Delicate (ASCAP) Genre: POP Label/Catalog Number: Warner Bros. 10147 (CD promo) Source: Billboard Magazine Originally Reviewed: October 16, 2004
Goo Goo Dolls have taken a well-deserved break from radio and mark their return with a true-to-form cover of Supertramp's 1977 hit, "Give a Little Bit." Lead singer/ guitarist John Rzeznik delivers a passion-fueled performance, reminding adult top 40 listeners of his familiar, amiable style. Curiously, this song is taken from the Goos' upcoming "Live in Buffalo July 4 2002" CD/DVD—and yet it's as polished a studio performance as we've heard. Huh?—CT

Just took a listen to the song - OK, but it doesn't do justice to the original. For one thing, the lyrics are totally re-arranged. What kills me is that CT calls it "true-to-form". Uh, not really. Give me the old Supertramp version any day!

Another washed-up band going the karaoke-cover-route in order to save their waning career. Well, good luck for them.

I hear Iris,Name,Slide,Broadway,Black Balloon,Here Is Gone,Big Machine,Sympathy & Johny's solo hit "I'm Still Here" every week on local hit stations. They have a new cd due out next year, so they put out a cover off a live cd, big deal. It's close to Top 20 at Hot AC in it's 2nd week, not too shabby for a washed up band that gets played on Adult Hit Radio 2nd to only Matchbox Twenty in the last 6-7 years and maybe Sheryl Crow.........

I like it. I heard it yesterday on KNUI-FM not from their WW1 satellite feed but when they were live and local :o (during the midday shift)

I'm sort of a fan of the Goos, but when I heard this I had to shake my head. Sorry, but couldn't they have come up with a cooler cover song than this? At least No Doubt picked a cool song with It's My Life. It sounds like the Goos are turning into Uncle Kracker, IMO. So sad!
My friend was at the taping of this DVD and yes it poured rain through most the the concert. She said she was within 15 feet of the stage and is curious to see if she makes it in the video. And really wishing she doesn't look like a drowned rat!

+594 right now, definitely not a trend you see all the time on the HAC chart. That's over double (closer to triple actually) the spin gain of the second greatest gainer.
