Right here we may be looking at an outside shot for Kelly Clarkson to take the top of Hot AC for perhaps one week before Green Day is destined to take over, and a long reign on top at that.
However, while "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" storms up the chart without mercy or any sign of slowing down, Kelly Clarkson is holding on, while Goo Goo Dolls are watching as their chart-topping Supertramp cover is beginning to lose triple-digit spins.
Could Kelly Clarkson pull some kind of "My Immortal" and top the chart by default of Goo Goo Dolls right before Green Day make it there?
Sincerely, Noah Eaton

If she can do it on Billboard, she'll be the first solo female since Sheryl Crow (First Cut Is The Deepest, about 1 year ago) to take #1 on Hot AC.
If Kelly does it on R&R, she'll be the first solo female since Avril Lavigne (I'm With You, from about TWO years ago) to take #1.

I think she has a better shot at AC.

I don't think "Breakaway" can make it, even more now that SUBG has entered the top 30.
"The First Cut Is The Deepest" should have made it to #1 on R&R.

How mayn weeks has Breakaway been on the chart? Can someone post the whole chart-run? And I don't think it will top the chart but will surely stick around for quite a while!

Unless Green Day comes to a screeching halt, they should easily take over #1 before Kelly gets a chance.

It's still No. 2 with a +13 bullet...hope it picks up It's actually -13. There's pretty much no chance of Breakaway hitting #1 (BOBD will pass it within the next couple of days), but it's still a huge Hot AC hit. It's been on the chart for nearly half a year, it's spent 2 months in the top 5 so far, and it still has quite a bit of life ahead of it. Not only that, but its success has paved the way for Kelly's current single to be just outside the top 20 and on more than half of the panel without even going for adds.
