According to this post on Radio-Info, an AT40 Hot AC edition will be launching this weekend, presumably to replace the Rick Dees Hot AC countdown. Not quite sure what to expect from this, but I'm guessing it will be a countdown with lots of substitutes for rap songs, as Dees does now, as opposed to a straight countdown like Casey does on AT20.

I guess this may also mean the end of American Top 20 with Casey Kasem..

If this is the same staff that does Casey's shows, then there's a good chance it won't be done half assed. We'll just have to wait and see. Unfortunately, I don't live in an area that airs Rick Dees Hot AC show.

Has anybody seen anything official on this? There's nothing on either Premiere's or Seacrest's websites that mentions this change. I'm just wondering where the original poster got the info from.
Also, did anyone notice if Casey gave subtle hints to this on his recent shows (ie, not asking for more dedications, not saying he'd be back next week, etc.). If I'd heard this rumor prior to last weekend, I would have paid closer attention.

I have not seen anything official either. You would think Premiere would've put something in their "news" section at least.
From what else I've heard, AT20 will still be around. Think of AT40 HAC as replacing Rick Dees WT40 HAC.

Unfortunately, I don't live in an area that airs Rick Dees Hot AC show. Yeah, I'm thinking that AT40 Hot AC will use the same sort of list that the CHR AT40 uses (with a ton of recurrents). That way, there won't be a lot of songs that peak in the lower reaches of the chart that very few Hot AC stations play (since songs like that seem to be "taboo" to the Hot AC format, just like low charting songs have been to the AC format for years)

This week's show was on selected test markets. The only one that I heard was in New Orleans. It is a case of Seacrest replacing Dees, not Casey.
Being aired on only "test markets", speaks volume!!!

So what was the chart like? Was it sort of like AT40, with a ton of recurrents?
