I was recently thinking it's time for a new album from him if he's still making music. www.mellencamp.com/news.htm has no news about a new album but does say: New John Mellencamp Song Featured in Movie The new Disney movie "America's Heart and Soul" features a new song by John Mellencamp called "The World Don't Bother Me None." The movie will be released to a limited number of theaters on July 2, 2004. There are no plans for John's song to be released on the soundtrack or for purchase, nor will it be released to radio. You can hear the song by watching the trailer at the movie's website www.americasheartandsoul.com. You can learn more about the movie by clicking here. Here is movie summary: America is a vast country -- three thousand miles from end to end. But it's not the land that makes America so special -- it's the people. Filmmaker Louis Schwartzberg packed up his camera and hit the road, with a goal of capturing both the unparalleled beauty of the land and the incomparable spirit of the people. Through his movie, "America's Heart and Soul," you'll have the chance to meet ordinary Americans with extraordinary stories. Louis's gift is his ability to connect with people, honestly capturing their values, dreams, and passion in an awe-inspiring journey that reveals the stories - unusual, captivating, inspiring and emotional - that make us into something more than a collection of individuals. "America's Heart and Soul" is a celebration of a nation told through the voices of its people.

It's time for John to have a hit, but it will never make it to POP, beacuse POP hates older, artist no matter how many great songs they have had. On HOT AC it may break the top 20-maybe.

John Mellencamp surely hasn't been completely ignored in recent years. The powerfully musically soulful yet politically sarcastic "Peaceful World" was a hit for John Mellencamp, featuring India Arie. In fact, it went Top 10 on Hot AC. It even made the Hot 100 (I think it peaked in the mid-fifties). CHR/Pop will not even touch this. Hot AC...maybe. Sincerely, Noah Eaton

To me Hot AC is the hit factor. It's the the real Top 40, music first (age & looks) second unlike Pop. I'd say if Mellencamp can crack the Top 20 at Hot AC it will be just as good as hitting the Top 40 in the mid 90's. Pop is getting too young anymore, what 30 year man wants to listen to Hilary Duff and admit it, but Mellencamp,Matchbox Twenty,Sheryl Crow,3 Doors Down, and even Avril, now that's hits. In the 80's you had older artists in the Top 40,in fact they were core Billy Joel,Phil Collins,Tom Petty,Stevie Nicks,Bon Jovi. You had your occasional New Kids On The Block and Tone Loc but not enough to make the older demo feel OLD!!!!!!, Adult Top 40 should be labeled Traditional Top 40 and the current Top 40 should be changed to Non Contemporary Top 40/hip hop NCR Top 40/Hip Hop LOL....

JOHN MELLENCAMP Walk Tall Producer(s): Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds, John Mellencamp Writer(s): J. Mellencamp Publisher(s): not listed Genre: POP Label/Catalog Number: Island 16119 (CD promo) Source: Billboard Magazine Originally Reviewed: August 21, 2004
The ever-versatile John Mellencamp offers a tease to his upcoming greatest-hits set (due Oct. 19) with a highly melodic midtempo collaboration with—of all folks—Babyface. Disparate elements are put to task for the casual folk-rocking "Walk Tall," including a persistent beat box, violins and smooth, soulful background vocals from Babyface. Mellencamp sounds in command, albeit laid-back, like he's enjoying a summer afternoon jam session with friends. While not a dramatic statement, "Walk" is a pleasant enough journey that could remind listeners of all the good that has come before from an artist who remains relevant and fresh.—CT

This should atleast go Top 5 at Triple A. It's already #6. It reminds me of "Amazing" by Josh Kelley.

The song is pretty good, but the lyrics are highly dissappointing.

I think if may have been just some odd case of waking up, or something, but I swear I saw the video to this on MTV. Out of all the places, MTV... Didn't like it though.
