Here's a post by a band member of the all-girl band Antigone Rising. Has anyone heard whether their first single, Don't Look Back, is getting any adds in AAA?
Here's what she posted on their website:
The 3 songs on the CD "single" are Don't Look Back (which is being released to Triple A radio stations while we're out on Rock the Vote tour), Last Try and Jealousy and Human Kindness.
.....
Regarding the 3 song CD single the label is releasing, we're totally thrilled they're doing this for us. It is definitely not something labels necessarily do for artists while waiting for the full length record to be released. Basically, Lava will have us visiting Triple A radio stations that coincide with all our Rock The Vote dates so we can meet the station managers and start getting the word out.
And contrary to things you may have read or heard, the band is very excited about the song "Don't Look Back". Cassidy and I spent a "lost afternoon" writing songs with Rob Thomas. If "Don't Look Back" is 3:55 long, it took us that amount of time to write it together, the chemistry was so immediate. We had an equally dream-like experience recording the song with Rob producing. I really hope when you hear it you love it. We're proud of all the work we've done and feel like the upcoming record is exactly what we hoped it would be."
I can't wait to hear this song. Please let me know if you've heard anything about it getting any airplay. Thanks!
PS: The comment about "contrary to things you may have read" quote is about a quote from the lead singer Cassidy about the song "Don't Look Back". She kind of dissed it as not their sound in an article a few months back.
For you Rob Thomas fans: Here's something Kristen Henderson of Antigone Rising said a few months back:
The album Henderson referred to will be the band's first on Lava records, marking a new transition for the band as they join the major label ranks. In this new campaign they have enlisted multiple Grammy winner and Matchbox Twenty front man Rob Thomas to co-write and produce two new songs "Don't Look Back" and "Precious Thing." The collaboration came about when Lava president Jason Flom was meeting with Thomas to discuss Matchbox Twenty. Flom wanted to get Thomas' opinion on the newly signed Antigone Rising. According to Henderson, "Rob said that ‘this reminds me of a side of myself that I can't explore with my band, I'd love to be able to write with them.' He had an immediate connection with Cassidy, and what she was doing vocally." Of the experience working with the superstar Henderson says, "Working with Rob was a riot. Cassidy and I met Rob and within minutes were like, ‘Lets write some songs,' and in four hours we wrote two songs from start to finish. It was so natural and totally painless. He's a soul-mate of ours for sure." Henderson is quick to heap praise on her new collaborator. "Rob's a genius, he's an underrated true genius. He's a melodic sponge who is definitely touched by angels. It's almost like his fame has cost him some credibility, which is sad, because he is one of our generations greatest songwriters, and we're lucky to learn from him."
