I've been trying to compile some chart records for the HAC chart. I used a computer program to analyze some of the data to come up with records and have not completely double-checked the results. Therefore some of the following may not be correct! Those I am not sure about have a (*) in front of them. Corrections/comments are welcomed:
("Most weeks" records do not include the weeks R&R takes a holiday break)
Most Weeks at #1: 23 weeks. "Smooth" - Santana f/ Rob Thomas (*) Most Weeks in the top 5: 33 weeks. "Smooth" - Santana... & "Drops of Jupiter" - Train (*) Most Weeks in the top 10: 52 weeks. "Drops of Jupiter" - Train (*) Most Weeks in the top 20: 68 weeks . "Drops of Jupiter" - Train Most Weeks on the chart: 71 weeks. "Drops of Jupiter" - Train
Most Weeks at #2 (for a song that peaked at #2): 17 weeks. "How You Remind Me" by Nickelback
Most Weeks at #3 (for a song that peaked at #3): 13 weeks. "Barely Breathing" by Duncan Sheik

matchbox twenty has the record of most total weeks over any other single artist at #1.
Also, I don't know whether "This Love" beat matchbox twenty's record of total spins in a single week of 4361 for "Unwell" or didn't.
Sincerely, Noah Eaton

I wonder how close HBAM by Lifehouse came to most weeks in the top 5. It returned to #1 MONTHS after it fell out originally...

yes, it did it with more than 4400 spins In previous years, I don't know how many or how many less monitored stations they had monitoring the formats, but as far as the highest number of spins in a single week divided by the number of stations, "This Love" would have the highest per-spin average in a week. Sincerely, Noah Eaton

I wonder how close HBAM by Lifehouse came to most weeks in the top 5. It returned to #1 MONTHS after it fell out originally... "Drops of Jupiter" did the same thing. Because competing singles fell from the Top 5 faster than Train and Lifehouse, they both kept rebounding position-wise while losing spins. Sincerely, Noah Eaton

There was a Santana song that jumped 10 notches a couple years ago. I'd be willing to bet that that was some kind of record for biggest mover within the Top 20.

"Hanging by a Moment" by Lifehouse and "Whereever You Will Go" by the Calling are tied in third place (remember, there is a tie for first) for weeks in the top 5. They each spent 30 weeks there.

Thanks for the info. So interesting to me. Appreciate the effort. It is interesting how some songs just linger so long. The mark of a great song. Some artists' songs zoom up fast and then fade fast. I was just thinking of the longevity issue when I noticed Here Without You by 3DD and Unwell by MB20 (or was it BL) on some Billboard chart for almost a year. Wow, congrats to any artist that can accomplish that!
