"Long,Long Way To Go" is listed for going for adds in the next few months on FMQB. I wonder if its the same version as the last cd. It's a great ballad and i thought it had huge hit potential off the last cd X.
My predictions if "Misunderstood" by Bon Jovi and Richard Marx's latest "When you're Gone" are top 20 or near top 20 hits i think this being much catchier and it's a ballad.
Hot AC- #14 Pop- if they promote it there #38-41 range but on the more traditional hot ac leaning top 40s out there it will be BIG!!!

Thats strange being quite old now. I'm not complaining though because it is a decent song.
I don't think it would even chart on pop.

I don't think it would even chart on pop. yeah i had my doubts about pop too i think it would have charted 3-4 years ago, but what do you think about Hot AC? This is better than recent Fleetwood Mac, Phil Collins, & Bon Jovi songs that have hit Top 30 status at Hot AC. I'd love for this be huge!!! Check out Friday Morning Quarterback's Hot AC/AC going for adds section. I think it's an October release, it has to be a updated version from a new cd because X is 2 years old now.

They must have messed up. That's got to be Lionel Richie's version of Long Long Way To Go that's going for adds.

10/4 HOT & MODERN
Def Leppard, "Long, Long Way To Go" (Island/IDJMG)
This is on Island/IDJMG and everything, I remember reading a while back that Def Leppard would be doing some kind of rarities and live cuts and remixed tracks etc. I think it is the real deal

Lionel Richie recorded the same song, he's on Island also, and his album just came out a little while ago.
I suppose it is possible that this will be on a future Def Leppard album, but, it just seems strange to me. I hope it IS the Def Leppard version, I really like that one.

Confirmation from an Island label exec, it IS the Def Leppard version. Joy! Joy!
I hope this does well, it's a really great song.

Well, I'm a bit surprised Island is actually still giving a chance to this Def Leppard album, since "X" entered at #11 but sank immediatly without a trace. What's funny is that some websites dedicated to this kind of melodic/AOR type of rock were very vocal about "Long Long Way To Go" standing a chance of being a big hit single and blamed Island for screwing promotion on it. Which makes me think: was there any kind of pressuring from fans and people alike to make this song a single? Ragin, do you know anything about this?

Which makes me think: was there any kind of pressuring from fans and people alike to make this song a single? Ragin, do you know anything about this? Actually the single is going to help promote a new greatest hits package from Def Leppard later in the year. This song was intended as a single from the very beginning, but with poor sales of X, Island pulled the plug on promotion after just one single release. In fact, Island pulled the plug even on the first single. They promoted the song "Now" to CHR/pop for a scant week and a half before stopping promo, BEFORE the album had even hit stores. Some believe this reflected a lack of interest on Island's execs for rock music, which does not explain their huge promotion of Bon Jovi, which largely failed. Anyhow, the label always liked Long Long Way To Go, and they have a new exec who is a big supporter of rock music, and they claim to be excited about promoting the song, so we'll see. They are not promoting X anymore though, and this single is not for the promotion of X, though it will undoubtedly help sales if it does become a hit.
