This is probably premature, but do you think 3DD can squeeze a four hit from "Away From The Sun"? The title track was pretty popular among some of the posters at R&R. I was thinking it would have been the third single over "Here Without You", but hey, what do I know?

Is the topic title referring to the album or song?
The song is decent, probably a little better than "Here Without You", but not one of the best on the album. I hope they release "Ticket to Heaven" or "Running Out of Days" next. (The hidden track, "This Time", is probably out of the running since it's hidden.)

(The hidden track, "This Time", is probably out of the running since it's hidden.) Well, in Hard Candy "Big yellow taxi" is hidden (at least in my edition), but it was the third single... But I agree the 4th single has to be "Away from the sun"

Sorry about that, I was referring to the title track as the next possible single. Or any other possible suggestions from the LP.

This is my favorite. Actually, I already charted it earlier this year and I don't chart songs that aren't officialy released too often at all.

Releasing "Away From The Sun" as the fourth single would be the obvious choice, as I believe there will be a fourth single because of the huge success of "Here Without You"
3 Doors Down have already explained numerous times they are proud of their CHR/Pop success, but that they are not pop and clearly rock and they would be devastated if they lost their Alternative and Active Rock audience.
"The Road I'm On" flopped somewhat on Alternative (it only peaked at #24) and "Here Without You" is not accelerating from its current #29 position on Alternative. This is a deep indication that the future of 3 Doors Down is at stake on Alternative and Active Rock unless they release a more rock-based track to the formats immediately. "Away From The Sun" is both a favorite among 3 Doors Down fans and many R&R members.
Sincerely, Noah Eaton

"Away From The Sun" is my favorite track not yet release from the album. I thought it was supposed to be the second single, but they changed at the last minute to "The Road I'm On". I could be mistaken about that, though. I think this one would be a perfect choice, especially if they only released it to alt radio at first, and waited until it peaked there to go to pop/hot ac.

I don't think it would do much better than "Here Without You" at Alternative.

It looks like "Away From The Sun" will indeed be sent to rock format stations in mid-January. I imagine Hot AC and AAA will follow suit.

This is not as lyrically atrocious as "Here Without You," but it's not as good as the first two singles.

Mid January? Why are they waiting so long??? I guess they want to let "Here Without You" run its course without another single getting in the way. It's still got a huge bullet at Hot AC, and is on the verge of regaining #1 on the Pop chart.

But I thought the whole point of the release was to send it to the rock formats so they DON'T have to play HWY anymore, but the pop and hotac formats can still keep playing HWY. That seems like a logical plan to regain rock credit- releasing a song to the rock formats only.

I'm glad they've decided to release this song. It's my favorite unreleased song on their CD.

It's a good choice for a single... one of the best songs on their CD that hasn't been released yet.

If they send this to CHR/Pop and it goes Top 5 there, they should send "The Road I'm On" to CHR/Pop as the fourth CHR/Pop single. It may not have done well at Alternative but I'm pretty sure I remember seeing it Top 10 at Mainstream Rock. It definitely sounds pop friendly enough to me.
Then, I would release "Sarah Yellin'" to Alternative as the fifth Alternative single because they desperately need a single that does not scream "crossover appeal".

CHR-Pop won't be ready for a fourth single until at least one and a half years after the album came out.

"Away From the Sun" is definetly my favorite song on the cd, and again, it's an obvious choice as a fourth single. If 3DD does in fact release a fourth single, that isn't the title track, I'd be surprised.
But, the CD is full of hit-worthy, catchy songs that could easily become minor hits on Alternative and huge hits on AC and Pop radio.
As far as losing their Rock / Alternative audience, I think they've already done that. Ever since their first mainstream single (Kryptonite), I have never thought of 3DD as a definate rock band. 3DD reminds me more of Matchbox Twenty than, say, Korn or Linkin Park. Instead of desperately trying to hold onto something they really aren't, maybe they should do what they want.

Wow! I think it is actually the best video of all five singles from this album. It is a little bizarre with the striking mountain imagery and the rock throwers, but very well done. At first I almost felt this was going to be a Creed kind of video. Sincerely, Noah Eaton

Are they looking to rebound on the chart?
Are they going to release anything else? Ticket to Heaven would be a good choice if they did.
