Both my Hot AC and Triple A station has been playing this album track.
Has John Ondrasik/Columbia already decided this as the second single for "The Battle For Everything?
If it is the case, I'd have to protest. "Dying" is another beautiful ballad, but having two piano ballads in a row is not a good release strategy and instead they should consider releasing one of his rockers next, like "Easy Tonight" did following-up "Superman"
"The Battle For Everything" doesn't have as many "rock" tracks as "Americatown" did ("Easy Tonight", "Americatown", "Boat Parade") nevertheless I think "Dying" should be saved for the third single.
Sincerely, Noah Eaton

And with the flop that Easy Tonight proved to be after Superman, I don't see why they should follow that formula again. Release the ballad because you know that Hot AC will eat it up again. Just, they should be waiting like 3 months to release a new single.

Release the ballad because you know that Hot AC will eat it up again. Just, they should be waiting like 3 months to release a new single. "Easy Tonight" really wasn't a FLOP I'd say, just nothing memorable. It was in its 16th week when it finally reached the Top 20 on Hot AC and "Superman" was still getting a bunch of spins. Five For Fighting wasn't yet an established act, being only a heatseeker champion, so reasonably, unless your album sells like crazy, you can't expect a second song from a heatseeker album to be as huge. If "Dying" IS the next single (they should, of course, wait until mid-summer to release it) then that's going to thwart the single's chance to be big on AC, one of their chief formats. Singles move up and down incredibly slow there, and that can be where Five For Fighting can benefit from chief album sales. But first they should allow "100 Years" to reach its optimum performance there and release something that's not or less of a ballad, like "NYC Weather Report". It probably won't be that big, but it'll cost FFF even more not timing their obvious releases. Sincerely, Noah Eaton

Rumor has it this indeed will be the second single, though some FFF fans are reporting hearing "The Devil In The Wishing Well" on their stations.
I'd prefer if "TDITWW" is released next. That way AC can really make "Dying" another big hit for John Ondrasik. It would get lost in the shuffle if released immediately next.

I suppose it sounds exactly the same as the other 3 FFF songs I've heard.
No, I'm not biased at all. :)
