[blue] 1/06/08 [/blue] #1: "Bubbly" holds at #1 for a twelfth week. Oldest Song: "First Time" with 36 weeks on. Oldest Song below #15: "The Great Escape" with 17 weeks. Possibly Going to Recurrent: "First Time", "Big Girls Don't Cry" when the songs fall below #15. Going to Recurrent: None Next Week. Biggest Mover: In a week where the chart is still returning to normal, "The Way I Are" is the biggest mover, moving up 4 to #34. Debuts: OneRepublic debut with their original version of "Apologize" at #36. "Taking Chances" returns after a brief break at #39. Exiting the Survey: "Calling You", 25 weeks, to recurrent "Her Eyes", 21 weeks, to recurrent Other Notes: "How Far We've Come" returns to its peak of #3. "First Time" returns to the top 10 again this week. While Lifehouse returns to the top 10, their latest hit stalls at #19 yet again. "Love Like This" and "Clumsy" reach new peaks by climbing 3 notches each to #s 22 and 25 respectively. All songs but one have bullets this week. I believe that the debut of "Apologize" makes this the first week where a remix or remake of a song is on the chart as the same time as the original version. Ouch! of the Week: No songs fall more than 1 spot this week. Song with the biggest spin increase: "First Time" (over a 300 spin increase). Song with the biggest spin loss: "Breathe In Breathe Out" (only a 12 spin loss). Note: The "last week" positions on the Mediabase chart do not match the chart posted last week, but the weeks on are correct. On the Pop chart around 2002, were the dance remix and the candlelight version of DJ Sammy's cover of "Heaven" on the chart at the same time? If so, does that count as the same thing as two versions of "Apologize" being on the chart? (although this is on Hot AC)

Someone posted a recent "AT40-the 70s" show where there were 2 different versions of "I'd Like To Teach The World To Sing In Perfect Harmony" in the Top 40 at the same time. Of course we're talking about the pop chart. Same thing happened on AT40 in 1990 when The Righteous Brothers had 2 different versions of "Unchained Melody" in the Top 40 at the same time.

I'm not sure if both versions of "Heaven" charted on Pop at the same time or not. johnnywest brings up a couple of good examples on the pop chart, but on HAC I don't think it's happened on HAC.

Shouldn't "First Time" go to recurrent since it's now at #17 and it's been on for like 35 weeks?

Shouldn't "First Time" go to recurrent since it's now at #17 and it's been on for like 35 weeks? Yes. As noted above, it's the oldest song at 37 weeks. Since it will likely be below #15 still on Sunday, the song should be removed. I write the text based on the published chart position, so that's why the song is in the "Possibly Going to Recurrent" section, even though today's intermediate chart would indicate it as definitely going to recurrent this week.

Yeah I remember the Candlelight Mix charting as a separate song on CHR as the dance mix of Heaven was just goin into recurrent But also remember when J-Lo had basically two entirely different songs, even with different lyrics, for Ain't It Funny and I'm Real, and both versions counted as the same song on CHR...not sure what was up with that Modern ACs playin the One Republic version of Apologize def. hurt the song's total chart performance (not sure about rank, but it def. took a hit in plays)

However, Mediabase has been known to remove them early, as was the case right after New Years.
