P!nk has never been a favorite singer of mine. "Just Like a Pill" was horrible; and this year's "U + Ur Hand" really put her at a new low. How such an angry-sounding slutty song that suggests masturbation could be top 10 at Hot AC is beyond me.
"Who Knew" is a 180-degree turn from "U + Ur Hand". It's not the best song on the charts right now, but at least it has a message and sounds more mature - which for P!nk is a major improvement!

"U+Ur Hand" ungry sounding slutty song?! ... LOL! You need to see things with a little more humor! And what's wrong with masturbation? ... I assume 99. 99999% of humans do that! What's so freaky about it? LOL!
... Pink not mature? Some of her singles are totally pop but I think you need to take the time to listen to more of her stuff. :)

Major confusion right now at CHR over this song...It's #1 on BDS, and on a Mediabase chart which I guess is not published online (that has more stations), but it's still #2 on the Mediabase chart which is accessible online...readin bout it is givin me a headache

WTMX is owned by Bonneville, a company controlled by the Mormon church. I don't think they'd be happy to hear such a suggestive song on their airwaves.

Interesting sidenote: The Bonneville Hot ACs were never allowed to play "Bitch" by Meredith Brooks because it was deemed too explicit.

WOW...what other Hot AC's or CHRs are owned by Bonneville? Wonderin if they played "U + Ur Hand" If there are CHRs owned by Bonneville, do you know if they played "Ignition" by R. Kelly, "Dip It Low" by Christina Milian, "Magic Stick" by Li'l Kim and 50 Cent etc.?

Did they play "Dontcha", "Beep", and "Buttons" by PCD? Because my sister's friend is a Mormon, and she said that her family found the Dolls as "not modest". Just curious.

If there are CHRs owned by Bonneville, do you know if they played "Ignition" by R. Kelly, "Dip It Low" by Christina Milian, "Magic Stick" by Li'l Kim and 50 Cent etc.? Bonneville doesn't own any CHRs anymore, probably for that reason. CHR has become too explicit for them. The only CHRs I'm aware of Bonneville ever owning are the old Z104 in DC and Z95.7 in SF. Ironically, when Z104 first debuted, it was almost a Rhythmic CHR! This was back in the days when "rhythmic" meant dance artists like Fun Factory and La Bouche though. It was a big deal on the radio message boards when "Bitch" came out and Z104 wouldn't play it. In the late 90's/early 00's, when rap started to dominate the CHR charts, both Z104 and Z95.7 started leaning more Hot AC. Z104 eventually flipped to Hot AC and Z95.7 eventually flipped to Country.

Ironically, I remember when the old Z104/Wash DC played "No Diggity" by Blackstreet in '97 (I lived in Northern VA then) and that actually was a pretty sexually explicit song although lots of people didn't know what they meant by "gotta bag it up"

Don't get me wrong - I'm no moralist or bible-thumper, but at the same time there should be some standards set. A song about jerking off doesn't personally stroke me in the right direction - pardon the pun. :)

Again, it's the content of the song that can force a station to give it airplay or not. "Who Knew" is a serious song that has meaning and melody. I believe that many station owners with a religious bent would much rather play an in-depth song about suicide than one about masturbating.

Sorry for the delayed response, atlantaboy. "Just Like a Pill" isn't really objectionable - except when she says the nurse is being a "real bitch". The song's angst-sounding message is really more suited for CHR than Hot AC - at least it was when it came out in '02. I see Pink as having more teen-appeal than adult-appeal. "U + Ur Hand" is not Hot AC material - regardless of how well it did on this format! A song like that simply doesn't belong in the upper rankings of a format that relies more on mature-sounding artist/songs.

Interesting sidenote: The Bonneville Hot ACs were never allowed to play "b***h" by Meredith Brooks because it was deemed too explicit. Wrong! The Mix in Chicago did and to this day still plays B***h on their station. It's just that the DJ's are not allowed to say that word. Funny though considering Brooks still sings that word in the song and it is not bleeped out! That kind of defeats the purpose of not allowing the hosts to say it!

The Mix in Chicago recently added "Stickwitu" as a recurrent about three months ago. I'm sure PCD's other songs would not fly on their station though.

So... today's Top 3 update is: 2 1 PINK Who Knew 3342 3322 20 14.721 1 2 FERGIE Big Girls Don't Cry ... 3305 3404 -99 15.663 4 3 COLBIE CAILLAT Bubbly 3233 3065 168 15.109
In terms of spins compared to yesterday, that means: Pink -12 Fergie -55 Colbie +36
Wow.... Colbie HAS to slow down... P!nk HAS to increase spins!! It's going to be very close!!! Unfortunately, the M chart still shows a 100spins advantage from Fergie. I wonder who will win for Billboard.... ???

Today's Top3 update: 2 1 PINK Who Knew 3321 3344 -23 14.712 4 2 COLBIE CAILLAT Bubbly 3257 3089 168 15.182 1 3 FERGIE Big Girls Don't Cry ... 3249 3409 -160 15.306
So, P!nk -21 increases her fall Colbie +24 decreases her climb
Oh... Go P!nk, keep stable at least, but don't fall much!!!!
