Heard this on the radio again - they're kinda lucky this isn't that big, cause they could really get sued by the Cars for the verses - it's also weird b/c they don't seem like the kind of band the would worship Hollywood

The bullet went away, but now it's back. I never hear this anymore though.

This song just flat out stinks! Even worse, it's a total ripoff. The only reason I want it to do well is so they get a decent crack at a second single. I'm still mad that "How Do You Love" flopped. That thing should have gone top 5 here easily.

I didn't even notice that part. They could be guilty of "subliminal plagiarism" - similar to what happened to George Harrison when he supposedly copied "He's So Fine" when he wrote "My Sweet Lord". I just heard this song for the 1st time this past week, and it has become a favorite of mine already. Lyrics are kind of lame and don't say much, but the song itself has an instant hook - short but sweet, kind of reminiscent of Del Amitri's "Roll to Me".

I'm still mad that "How Do You Love" flopped. That thing should have gone top 5 here easily. "How Do You Love" was one of my favorites also - a good follow-up release to "Better Now". It was a very melodic song that should've been a bigger hit. Unfortunately it had the same fate as Lifehouse's "Breathing" as far as chart performance. That was another good song that had high potential but received minimal airplay for some weird reason.

I think it was subliminal (he didn't mean to do it)...I wonder if anyone ever pointed it out to him - I also wonder if that hurt this song at mainstream rock where people prob. remember the Cars really well The last case of "subliminal plagarism" I remember was in the late 90s with the song "Say What You Want" by a group called Texas - they sung the lyrics to the bridge "When I get that feeling" exactly like Marvin Gaye sung it in "Sexual Healing" - they were actually called out on it, but since it wasn't that big a hit nothin really came of it except they said they didn't mean to copy him

This song gets better with every listen. I got really sick of it, but that's b/c Collective Soul is from Georgia and the ATL Alternative station and Triple A stations (2 of them) play it all the time

Quite a different sound in "Hollywood" compared to CS's earlier hits like "Shine". That's fine, though. "Shine", although a good song, was rather intense. Their lighter hits such as this one, "Run", "The World I Know", and "Better Now" are my favorites by this band.

It's looking better and better for top20, we can hope. I personally, while I know what people are saying about The Cars, disagree. I see similarity, but it is NOT exactly the same beginning, it isn't the same notes, and it isn't the same style. Besides, one phrase or one little thing doesn't constitute a "rip off". See Sean Kingston for that honor.

I had almost given up hope... it kept bouncing between 22 and 25.
Really nice for CS to get another Top 20 hit.

Oh, well I hope that can do better than this. I certainly hope it does better now! :) Unless it can get a late burst of energy, this song is destined for the same type of chart performace as "How Do You Love". If you look at the type of airplay this song is getting, it's mostly from the modern AC outlets.

I hope their next single can get some traction. It is my hope that album sales will not factor into whether or not DJs decide to play the next one. This is a pretty nice album by collective soul, there are some real surprises on there that are great songs. The album as a whole doesn't stack up to Youth unfortunately, and that will hurt them.
