Hey just noticed that WWMX/Baltimore just went up 0.8 points this quarter in Arbitron to a rating of 4.6, which is insane right now for a Hot AC station!
They def. have a huge advantage of havin no CHR in the market, but I'm not sure if that's a cause or effect of their programming (i. e. it could be that they responded well to the last CHR station WXYV that tried to "break the market" in Baltimore but always came out on the bottom in ratings)
On a sadder note, it looks like WPLJ/New York is about to tank! It's ratings are now below 2.0...can't be good...

Some stations on the Hot AC panel with a 4.6 or higher rating:
KMXB Las Vegas (2nd in the market) KSRZ and KQKQ in Omaha-Council Bluffs WTIC Hartford-New Britain-Middletown KSII El Paso WNNK Harrisburg-Lebanon-Carlisle (rating in the 7s) WXLO Worcester WHBC Canton (Number 1 with over 9 shares, the ratings call it AC but it is on the Mediabase Hot AC panel) WAYV Atlantic City-Cape May (the ratings call this station CHR/Top 40 and its playlist looks to be in between that and Hot AC) Edit: In ratings released today, add WRMF West Palm Beach-Boca Raton, which more than doubled its rating and is now Number 1, and KZZU and KCDA in Spokane.
I live in an area with two Hot AC stations that don't do well in the 12+ ratings, WPLJ and WMJC. In my suburban market, Nassau-Suffolk, WPLJ has a higher rating than it has in New York, while WMJC more than doubled their ratings, which is not that hard to do because they normally have less than 1 share. I find that WPLJ has talking (not music) a lot of the time I see what's on and I listen to WMJC more. In Nassau-Suffolk, Hot AC stations have strong competition on both sides from multiple AC and CHR-Pop stations.

WWMX though is def. the highest rated Hot AC station right now in, say, the Top 30 markets (not sure what rank Las Vegas is, but I'm sure it's much smaller than Baltimore) Really worried about WPLJ - someone had written in a thread that carrying the suburbs is not enough for a big city station which has a rating of 1.9 - even if it is bringin in a lot of $$$

Sorry just saw WRMF/West Palm Beach has a 7.0 rating and is at the top of its market!! WPB might be the only monitored market right now with a Hot AC station at the top!

Sorry just saw WRMF/West Palm Beach has a 7.0 rating and is at the top of its market!! WPB might be the only monitored market right now with a Hot AC station at the top! In San Francisco, KOIT is the #1 FM station. In Houston, KODA was the #1 station in the last "traditional" ratings period (August trend). In Philadelphia, WBEB is #1 and has been for awhile, if memory serves. In Miami, WLYF is the #1 non-ethnic station. WALK is #1 on Long Island. WDUV is #1 in Tampa. KEZK is the #1 FM in St. Louis. Those are just the top 20 markets. AC / Hot AC is doing rather well in many places.

Those aren't Hot AC stations...I think there'll all mainstream AC West Palm Beach is the only market I could find with HOT AC at the top of its market

WWMX though is def. the highest rated Hot AC station right now in, say, the Top 30 markets (not sure what rank Las Vegas is, but I'm sure it's much smaller than Baltimore) For Spring 2007-Summer 2007, Las Vegas was Market 32 with 65.7 percent as many people as Baltimore.

^Yeah I think WWMX is the highest-rated HAC in a top 30 market, but just noticed that WRMF/West Palm Beach has a 7.0 rating (I think) and is at the top of its market - West Palm def. has less people than Baltimore and Vegas though (I think) - there's also a HAC in Dayton OH with ratings even higher (above 8.0 I think)
