For those of you who have read my previous posts of this show, you might have noticed three new features. Songs in boldface print indicate songs played for the first time on this show. The other thing is the chart positions listed after the songs. Some might think these represent the positions at which the song would be ranked had the show remained in countdown form (for those of you who don't remember, until mid-September, 2006, the show used to be a countdown and was called "VH-1 Weekly Rewind). But the chart positions are, in fact, from the corresponding (I think so, anyway) R&R chart, which, in this case, is the June 22 chart. Not sure if they actually use this chart as a reference, but, for the most part, they stick to the Top 20, as well as playing a song or two that has yet to crack the Top 20, such as the new Fergie and Incubus hits. The number of songs they play each week varies, generally between 16 and 18, but in any case, they obviously don't have time to play every single song in the Top 20. The songs they skip are usually songs on their way down (such as "It's Not Over" by Daughtry and "Say It Right" by Nelly Furtado), but they'll once in awhile opt not to play a song that's in the Top 20 and climbing (like "Girlfriend" by Avril Lavigne this week). Also, they'll vary the songs they skip, which means that we'll probably see the Nelly Furtado and Daughtry songs mentioned above back on the list before they fall off the charts.
Speaking of skipped songs, that's the subject of the third new feature. It's pretty self-explanatory; just a listing of songs in the Top 20 of the corresponding R&R chart that were not played this week.
